THIS is the one you want

Are you a parent or pet owner or insomniac searching around Amazon at 3am for the right white noise machine and you’re thinking to yourself “but I don’t want it to sound electronic or like grating tv static”? That was me. I knew I needed a white noise machine with a full and robust sound and this is exactly it. It uses an actual fan and the volume control is dependent on you limiting the flow of air. It’s perfect. It’s the kind of white noise that genuinely fades into the background quickly, as it should. It feels natural and my 18 month old and I have never slept better. My husband who couldn’t sleep past 6 is even sleeping until 8 these days! Another important note - we visited a family member who happened to have the very expensive top of the line white noise machine that you see recommended for moms a lot (avoiding saying names). 1. The sound is very tinny 2. It has a lot of unnecessary sounds that are jarring (screeching birds, etc.) 3. All other advertised content requires a subscription. But the worst discovery came later when I tried it for my daughter. She started holding her ears and crying and saying “ow”. We knew she had an ear infection so I figured it was just that, but I tried turning the machine off and she immediately stopped crying. I googled it and right there it says that if a child already has ear pain, the wrong kind of white noise can drastically exacerbate it. So please beware! Thankfully, THIS white noise machine is a fan so it doesn’t hurt her ears at all! Finally, do note that this is JUST a white noise machine. It does not play other sounds and it does not have any light. To me, this is the best part about this machine. I don’t want/need to play jungle noises or cars honking or rapidly running rivers that make me need the bathroom. I also don’t want more glowing stuff in the room. Why buy blackout curtains if you’re going to put lights in there? All of this to say: look no further - this is the white noise machine you actually want to order or put on your registry

I love the noise of the natural fan but comes apart

I love this brand for its natural fan noise (much better than the electronic ones), but one fall (or any trip in luggage) and the screw comes loose and it won’t turn on. It just makes this revving noise. I fixed it myself multiple times by taking it all apart, screwing it tighter and it still came loose over and over. I ended up buying a longer screw at Home Depot. I would’ve given it 5 stars if it stayed together.

Smooth, consistent , noise

This is our second purchase. The first one lasted for years before it finally stopped working this year. Unfortunately, the second one quit a couple of days after we received it but it was easily exchangeable. The replacement they sent seems to be working fine. It is currently 2 months old. It is a "white" noise machine that sounds like a fan blowing. It is a consistent sound so you don't wake up because of a change in pitch or rhythm. My original, decade+, old, one had the two speed control option but I found I only liked one of the settings, so I purchased the one speed setting to save a little money. You can also change the tone (on either machine) by slightly twisting the machine. I recommend this product if you are a light sleeper.

Love it

I love this. I always wanted one sieve I started working on a doctor's office. I would walk past it on the floor and would love to listen to it. It was so calming. It makes me sleep so well. Also really helps with the tinnitus. Definite must get.

I get a full night rested sleep with this device

I live in a 2 story house not too far from a busy traffic zone. This helps me get a good night's sleep and somehow I don't hear any traffic or motorcycles at night when I have this on. It did take me 1 or 2 nights to get adjusted to the sound because I was so use to using the fan to block out noise

Quieter than Expected

From about six inches away I used an app on my phone measure the ambient volume level of the room and the volume level with the machine turned on. By taking an average of the max and min dB values of before and after, I measured the ambient volume to be 48.35dB and with the machine on to be 64.35dB. In other words there is a 16dB increase with the machine on and at full volume. Overall the machine is quieter than I expected at full volume. I am used to using my phone, which can get much louder than this machine. I have also attached a photo of the inside of machine if you are curious what the fan looks like.

Love the analog fan sound

This makes a nice constant low base white noise. It does an amazing job at blocking just about everything else out. It sounds way better than the digital static ones. Its not as portable as the digital ones but its so much better that it's worth the suitcase space.

LIFESAVER!!

We now own MANY of these, and I'm about to order more! When 2 or 3 are strategically placed about 2 ft. away around the bed, they create a "bubble" of noise-filtering PEACE. I've slept through road work, construction on my neighbor's house and another neighbor's endlessly yapping dog. Himself works nights, so daytime sleep *was* ESPECIALLY challenging. We even have them scattered in the rooms where our dogs tend to sleep! (They no longer react to the slightest neighborhood sound!!) If you live in a city or busy suburb, these are a MUST! They're also easily portable for traveling. (I've even brought one with me to the hospital!) I FREQUENTLY recommend these to people!

Me fascina mis maquinitas de white noise. Éstas en específico me gustan más porque tiene motor dentro de la unidad. Lo que hace que se escuche natural el sonido. He intentado usar mi celular o bocina pero no se escucha igual. Para mi fue una salvación porque ya no levanto a mi pareja cuando voy al baño en la noche. De hecho nos lo hemos llevamos de viaje varias veces y nos ha ayudado mucho en no escuchar a los vecinos del cuarto de hotel o los sonidos de la calle (especialmente en CDMX). Hay una versión más sencilla que solamente tiene una velocidad. Este me gusta más porque tiene dos velocidades y se puede regular lo agudo o grave del sonido. Ampliamente recomendado, ya le regalé a mis suegros y mis papás, me aman más por este aparatito jajaja.

Rattles, Whines, & Vibrates.

Poor Quality!! My machine rattled, vibrated and whined as soon as it was plugged in. Apparently these machines have been intentionally cheapened by the manufacturer in an effort to increase profits, so there are a lot of customer complaints about these newer models. As for the air whooshing sound that it's meant to make - even that isn't nice sounding. It doesn't sound like any fan I've ever heard (and I've got about 15 of them in my home) and it has a high pitched whine to it that sounds totally unnatural and hard on the ears. It's not quite as bad on the softest setting, but still unpleasant. Another shameful example of planned obsolescence. Doesn't anyone just make a quality product at a fair price anymore?

Works as it should!

THis is a simple white noise generator that uses a fan assembly inside. THis is a model that has been in production since 1962 and this company was the first to use this system. After buying and returning a Conair machine that uses looping I must say I am pleased with how this unit works. All it does is turn on and the fan starts turner internally and you adjust the noise generated by turning the top of the unit..simple and effective.... NO need for all the other digitized looping sounds that other machines produce along with extraneous noise.

Mala calidad

Es el segundo que compro (por que me lo recomendaron) pero, como el primero, tambien se descompuso (y no lo puedo devolver). No tiene ni un año y ya no sirve! Ademas que desprende un olor muy fuerte #nolorecomiendo
