For New Owners
I bought mine about nine years ago and replaced the pump once during that time. I am going to give you some suggestions that might improve your experience. I am not a plumber or an expert. I am not responsible for any water damage to your property for following my suggestions. That's your problem. First of all - prepare for the worse !! There will be a malfunction or failure; you must be ready beforehand when that occurs. The container is not waterproof !! A washer can put out 10 to 20 gallons, and that water has to go somewhere. The container is not designed to hold all that water, so have a plan in place for it beforehand. Many sinks do not hold that much water either. I placed my container in a storage bin to catch the overflow. See the first picture. The bin was from Walmart and can hold about 18 gallons. This one thing is the most important thing to know. HAND-TIGHTEN THE ATTACHMENT TO THE INLET OPENING !! In fact, hand-tighten all the attachments since it is made of plastic. Put a message on the top of the container to remind your future self only to hand tighten it or never remove it once it is on. Too Tight, and you will crack the plastic. The Inlet is the weakest part of the container. Picture two shows a message to my future self. You can suffer malfunctions due to what is put down the drain. The pump uses a floating lever on a shaft that rises and lowers with the water level. Too much lent, dirt, and solvents, like paint, can make it malfunction. Best to just let only water go down the drain. Picture three shows a lent catcher. This will likely extend the life of the pump as well. So what if you do break the plastic inlet (seen in other posts and which I did nine years later since I didn't leave a message to myself)? All may not be lost. This is a costly investment; you don't want to buy a new container. A recommended glue for plastic is pictured above. If you glue the inlet, the attachment must be put on; oh, so softly !! I don't know if superglue works; you can try at your own risk. Another option is to have the 1 1/4 pipe coming from the sink bypass the attachments and go all the way inside the container. This is what I did with the glue. I reamed out the attachments to allow the 1 1/4 inch pipe to slide all the way through to the container. Make a note. The attachments are 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 with a 1 1/2 pipe between them, allowing the sink pipe to slide inside, bypassing the crack case. Picture four shows the pipe going through the attachments. Plumbing parts are expensive. Make sure my idea works for you before laying the money down. Lastly, You will want some way of warning yourself that the pump failed. You may not see the water in the sink if you run a load and then return hours later to put it in the drying. By then, all the water could be in the basin vs in the sink. Failing to recognize the failure will only lead to water damage even after your good effort. I got a see-through basin to check before running the wash. I am sure there are other ways to help warn you of a failure. I suggest doing some research and preparing for the worse to avoid water damage.

Very effective.
Looks well built, solid construction, quiet enough, pumps water quickly, float valve shuts it off when the bin is emptied. Their piping instructions seemed a bit wrong to me, almost circular in their suggestion, they said it was code but I don't think so. Instead, I ran a stand-alone vent pipe up the wall with a quick vent on top, and a 2nd pipe tied into a waste line, and the 3rd pipe to accept the washer machine dis-chare. Simplified the loopy thing they suggested. Picture shown testing with a garden hose running full blast, it kept up just fine.

A good pump kit with one small issue
It's relative easy to install and is pretty powerful. It is quiet too. However, the power plugs are too bulky, especially you need to piggy back one on top of the other. I use this outdoor. The plugs don't fit the common one gang while-in-use electrical cover box from home depot. I changed it to two-gang box and they still don't fit! I have to add a short extension cord to route the plugs in the box so they barely fit.

Great replacement
Had one for about 15 years, started leaking at the top tried to fix many time, and just decided to get a new one. Much better construction and pump works great. Had to do a bit of re-plumbing but all in all only took about two hours to install and I have a working drain again. Also much quieter than the previous one.

Excellent pump and housing. Easy Peasy!
Using this for a basement utility sink. Really easy to install. Long power cord for pump and float switch. I installed a one way 1-½ inch valve on the discharge side near the pump so waste water does not return to the pump housing after pumping 8' to the sewer level. I assume the nuts and bolts sealing the housing are rust proof? Excellent purchase.

Great! Silent!
Great pump! Silent, too. I know others complained about noise, but my pump runs quietly. Only complaint is that when installing discharge the instructions should advise that tube should fit into discharge hole instead of screwing down completely. If screwed down completely, then pump would shift around inside of basin. Then you must take apart basin (full of water) to restart.

useful pump
This is a replacement pump for another one that worked for 15 years with no hassle. We just wanted to replace it with a new one when the time came. Easy to install and reliable. It is expensive for the purpose but it works for our purpose to pump water from a laundry tub to the higher drain.

Quit after a few months
Worked on our laundry tub for 4 months then quit. Too late to send back for a refund and now I’m out over $300. Would never buy again!
