Just what I needed

Oops I somehow ordered the wrong ones

I like the ease of use, and am happy with the product but I needed my clamps to go over 31 inches for the project I'm doing. I thought I ordered 36" clamps so these won't work but I also ordered pipe clamps and they will work. I'll keep these for future projects.

Happy repeat buyer - more for my collection

These are indispensable for me, as I enjoy fixing old chairs and other furniture. I bought a set of small ones, and was so pleased with their quality I bought these larger ones for chair seats.

Quality product

I have 4 of these that are probably 10 years old. I found I never had quite enough for projects, so ordered a couple more (tough to find in stores for some reason). The product has changed a bit. The current version has a heftier bar and body than the old version. The end is also removable so you can swap it to the other end of the bar and use it as a spreader clamp if you need to. Irwin kept the sturdy metal locking/release bar. Many competitors use a cheesy plastic extender on the locking bar. Good job, Irwin. This is a rare example of the new version of a product actually being better than the original!

Poor Design, Mediocre Quality

So disappointed. Irwin used to make great stuff until they outsourced to "you know where." These aren't very practical, especially because the pads don't swivel much. The rubber pads are also slippery and made of some cheap plastic type material (definitely not like the old heavy duty rubber grips). The throat is also not very practical. It's too shallow. I'll never buy Irwin stuff again. I thought I'd try them again one more time after their Vice Grips went down the toilet in quality, but nope. It's everything apparently.

Well made

For what I do it is perfect. Work with wood and around the house. Enough clamping power. The only downside is the dirty grease on it when it comes and you have to clean it off. But I am not going to take a star because it has to be protected from rust. 2020 Sep 12 Noticed rust on one of the clamps coming out from underneath the metal bar. WTH !!! For rust to come out the material used had to be rusted before the clamp was made. No. Not well made. 1 *

No es lo que esperaba.

La prensa en si funciona bien, pero, considerando la marca y el precio, esperaba algo mejor, es decir: cuando se usa para tratar de juntar dos piezas e que se pretende pegar (carpintería) si lo hace pero le cuesta trabajo, la carcasa tiende abrirse un poco con la presión normal que se usa para unir, lo que hace parecer como una prensa algo endeble. la barra no es muy gruesa, hay mejores en amazon a precios más razonables. No la recomendaría muy bien para trabajo rudo, y menos con el precio que ahora tiene. Me costó $513.

Top quality clamp

I needed a one-handed clamp for some heavy duty clamping and this item does the trick. The I-beam shaped bar is very strong and rigid - doesn't flex. The movable part of the clamp slides smoothly on the bar and is very easy to position and clamp one-handed. The face of the jaws is 1 1/2" by 1 7/8" with square edges - which is very useful when you don't have a lot of space on the edge for a clamp. The face on the fixed end of the clamp pivots slightly to adjust for uneven material. My favourite feature of this clamp is the quick change mechanism to convert from a clamping to a spreading action. This clamp has a sliding clip to make the change, unlike most trigger clamps that use a both which is both slow and a risk to lose the screw. I you can get these clamps on sale, then you will have an unbeatable value. I will definitely buy another 1 or 2 clamps if I can get them on sale again.
