Much better than factory

Installed on model 60 .357 it’s much better than the factory sight. Does take some fitting and a #54 drill bit to install as well as a .050 punch. Fitting and install took me around 20 minutes with the proper tools.

Great product - Poor instructions

The sight works exactly as intended and is a real improvement over the black factory sights supplied on factory Smith & Wesson J frame revolvers. Also note that some of the premium grade Smith & Wesson J frames models have this sight factory installed. I am giving the sight only 4 stars not due to any shortcoming of the product but because of the lack of complete installation information. Smith & Wesson J frame front sights are held in place with a very small roll pin. HIVIZ does not mention in their literature or advertising that their sight must be installed and drilled to accept the roll pin. HIVIZ did not provide the punch size for removing the roll pin or the drill size for drilling the sight. They gave no instructions as to how to make the installation. If you have the proper tools and the skills to use them, the sight installation is not a big issue. If not you will need to have a gunsmith install your sight.

Good fit and look

This is a little misleading the description says come with green and red light pipe but I only came in red no green lite pipe. No big deal. Drilling the pin hole was easy 1/16 bit. I locked my barrel in a vice drilled easy looks great.

Not drilled to accept roll pin

Sight is not drilled to accept roll pin. Will require a sharp drill bit, a steady hand and some experience to install correctly.

Does not come ready to install

This product is expensive first of all. It is a small piece of plastic. Also, it does not come ready to install. There is no hole for the pin which holds the sight in place. I cannot even find a gunsmith locally that wants to install it on my sight because they are afraid of damaging my gun. I do not know why they would sell it like this. Also, I received it as a gift and it is outside of the return window so I cannot even return it. Now I have a useless tiny piece of 35$ plastic and dont know what to do with it.

Why does this not come predrilled? Spend money only to have to turn around and spend more money for a gunsmith to install it...

Great sight however it is not for a 686.My mistake. Decided to keep it in the event I purchase a j frame S&W.
