Perfect for my Tucktec
Needed something with better support and cushioning than the seat that came with the Tucktec kayak. Due to it being buckles, a replacement seat was hard to find. This seat not only gives great back support, cushioning for the toosh, but even has a little pocket in the back.

Very comfortable
The seat for the Tucktec kayak leaves much to be desired, so I bought this seat for my kayak. The big plastic clips did not fit under the bars meant for the Tucktec seat, so I bought some 24 inch velcro straps to firmly secure it. I can't expect a third party company to design a seat that will work perfectly for all paddlecraft, so no stars were deducted. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the back of the seat wants to flop forward, which makes it annoying to try to sit in.

Reclining?
I really like the build quality of this seat, its light and pretty compact, you can sort of recline but once youre past a certain point the strap doesnt seem to wanna hold it up, i wish there was a better way to recline the seat, i dont trust the little flap to support my weight and im only like 120lbs but overall its a really nice seat (Update 1 year later) it held up great! Same sort of problem i can only recline so far before the strap doesnt work buttttt it really held up, after all the time sitting on it, folding it, attaching to different places the straps and material are still together in one peice with very minimum wear.. its a solid choice if you want something to last a while! Its muuch much more comfortable then earlier models so if youre looking for something more comfortable definitely consider this seat! Your bum and back will thank you!

Broke the first day of use! However GCI replacing it
I am updating my initial review that I posted in early August: We bought this set for our 15 year old son to take with him on his 50 mile canoe trip with Boy Scouts. On the very first day of his trip, he strapped the seat to the canoe, leaned back, and one of the metal loops in the back that holds the straps so they can strap to the canoe seat, snapped right off! He had to go the rest of his trip with a defective seat. He was able to rig it with some other straps that he had with him so he could still use it, but what a disappointment! Feel like something must have been defective with the metal loop (wasn't welded correctly or something) as it shouldn't have snapped completely off with the first sign of any pressure on it! I was able to contact the GCI company and their customer service has been fantastic. They asked me to send photos of the damage and after receiving the photos, they are going to replace our damaged chair. Can't thank them enough for that as means a lot to our family and my son who has many more canoe trips with Boy Scouts coming up and this seat really does help. So five stars to the GCI Outdoor Company for their customer service!

Works pretty good!
Canoe seat has worked well thus far. Quick/easy to install. Stays put. Only fits on the front canoe seat, but I knew this when purchased. Only issue, a ittle cumbersome to climb over it if you are headed for the rear canoe seat! Could use a more narrow one that fits on smaller rear seat.

Best money ever spent!
Bought this for canoeing and it SAVED my butt and back!! Never felt better after a canoe trip. Best thing is that I use it for outdoor concerts when sitting on the lawn. So comfortable! My back loves it.

Better than nothing
These were almost not worth the effort. The back position is adjustable by a strap. The strap is attached to the soft padded bottom, nothing solid to actually keep it in place.

Crazy Creek is lighter and has more back support
Was hoping this canoe backrest would be an upgrade from what I have now, but turns out it provides less back support than my existing Crazy Creek backrests. And these are heavier.

Useless
This thing is as useless as can be. It offers absolutely NO back support, and there's absolutely NO WAY to lean back on this thing - unlike many other options of 'stadium seats.' Now - MAYBE - this might work for some people for the probably intended use as a canoe seat or whatever it is intended for - but if you are even THINKING about using it for anything else - FORGET IT! For one - this thing has such a tiny base - that if you try to lean back in it, there is nothing on the bottom to hold it and you up. I'm probably not describing this well, but if it extended longer towards your knees, then there would be some structure to push against to keep the front down so that the back would be supported when you lean back. And another VERY irritating thing about this junk is that the back never stays up. Every time you want to sit down in it, you have to lift the back up from horizontal position and awkwardly bend over and slide your butt in first to squeeze into it. This thing is so awful, it's one of a several hundred things I've bought from Amazon that I'm going to return just because it's USELESS! I've not bothered to return 30 other things that didn't work for me, but at least they were useful for something.

Dissatisfied customer -- terrible design
I had purchased two of these sit backer chairs from Amazon back in May. Since that time both of these chairs had very little use, in fact, it was the second weekend of use during our son’s baseball tournament where one of the two chairs broke and became not usable. For whatever reason, the design has two cushions for a seat and these cushions are held together by stitching. This stitching completely let go. We are not a 'big' family with me being the heaviest as 180lbs. Customer service stated that they'd provide me with a new chair as warranty however I'd have to be ok with paying shipping because I am a Canadian resident. I'm not investing any more dollars into this and will be throwing away the chair.

Great, but too wide for rear canoe seat
Really like the concept and the build quality, but it's only useful if solo-canoeing -- the width of the seat and frame causes abrasion (and nasty squeaking) if used in the narrower, rear position of a canoe. Renders this more than half useless for me, since I typically am in the stern. Comfortable, well designed, etc., but just about a centimetre too wide. Company should adapt the design.

Best canoe seat ever!
This thing is a life saver if you like to canoe but have back problems like me. It has great lumbar support, and has allowed me to get back into doing canoe trips after years of sitting on the side lines because the pain was so bad. I'm so thankful I discovered this seat! I have a Swift Prospector 17 Kevlar canoe, and it fits great on both the front and rear seats. Buckles are sturdy and allow you to lean back into the seat without it popping off.

Wow.
This thing seems amazing. Using it for an upcoming canoe trip, back was killing me last time. I wish the seat was a couple inches longer but other than that, super comfortable.
