WAY better than my last Fitbit (including the premium)
The Garmin watch is a game changer, it's more accurate than Fitbit and gives you the same specs (and more) WITHOUT a yearly premium membership charge. I had a fitbit for years, didn't think I'd switch.. sad I didn't sooner!

Average tracker, bad app organization
I purchased this Garmin tracker to try instead of a FitBit as those seem to break approximately every 1.5 years for me. After about 9 months, here's my list: PROS: - Very lightweight - Easy to clean - Holds up in water for extended time - Lots of data on app -Able to receive phone notifications/calls - Great battery life CONS -The Garmin app doesn't have a section to enter foods/calories to see a complete daily snapshot of health. You have to get a second app to add in food, which still connects to Garmin anyway. Inconvenient. -Tracking is not always accurate. The tracker doesn't have a setting for sleep and automatically picks up on it. However, being a new mom who needs naps, it didn't count any of my naps in the sleep section. On FitBit, I could manually plug when I was laying down for a nap. -Issuss in programming. I found my tracker continuously asked to be synced even if I had just synced it a minute before. I unpaired it and factory reset, but it still happened. I also found it didn't accept when I started my day. I would click the morning pop up on the tracker, then when I went to check my watch hours later, it would pop up again. Notes: I was using this as a general health helper and not a training or heavy duty exercising tool. Overall, I'm glad it is a nice pedometer and watch, but the tracking technology and app design could be better for average uses instead of excess information I'm not sure is even calculated correctly. 3/5 stars.

Love my new Garmin
Glad able to change bands, since it is usually the band that breaks on me. Takes a while to learn the few differences from the Vito 4. Love it!

Way to easy to trigger find my phone feature
I like every thing about this fitness tracker except for how easy it is to trigger find my phone. I accidentally trigger it in the shower at least once a week!

Everything you need...no monthly price
This is a good watch at a good price. It tracks everything you need accurately and the app is amazing. So much data, and so many options to customize the layout and info that you see. The data (particularly the sleep data) is also presented in a more informative way than both Fitbit and Amazon Halo. It's often compared to the Fitbit Charge 5 because it's the same upfront cost. No doubt, the Vivosmart 5 isn't quite as good and the lack of a color screen isn't ideal. But the Fitbit requires a $10/month subscription to get most of your data. It's free on Garmin. All of it. So after 2 years (incl. the free trial), a Charge 5 costs $330....the Garmin is ALMOST as good as a much lower lifetime cost. Would recommend.

Not that smart
After wearing a Vivosmart4 for 3 years, I decided to upgrade. Whilevthe slightly bigger size is ok and the larger screen is nice, I saw my stress levels spike with this device. To check it, I wore the 4 on my right wrist and 5 on my left wrist. The 5 reads out 2 to 3 times higher and fluctuates constantly while the 4 does not. The high stress levels give me a piss poor sleep score every night, drain my body battery that never recharges more than 25 points, gives me intensity minutes for doing nothing and in general just bums me out. The heat rate on the 4 and 5 were identical so this must be some new calculation for ‘heart rate variability’ that is spiking my stress. In all I am not a happy camper with the wildly different stress readings between the Vivosmart4 and Vivismart 5. That said, my boyfriend is not having the same issue so maybe it’s just not made to work with little old ladies. (5’2”, 120 lbs, 61 yo. ). His resting heart rate is in the 40’s or 50’s whole mine is high 60’s or low 70’s so I guess that matters. In all I’d say it’s a dumb watch and frustrating.

I love the features.
The step counter isn't very accurate. I wore my old fitness watch and this one for a few days. All other things like heart rate were the same. At the end of the day this step counter was around 1000 less steps.

Bulky compared to the vivosmart 4
I bought this as an upgrade to the Vivosmart 4, but I am disappointed. Compared to the Vivosmart 4 it is more bulky and less appropriate for work attire. As far as the readings, it seems to underrate my sleep. Even when I sleep soundly and I awake rested, it rates my sleep as poor. It also rates my stress higher than the Vivosmart 4 but I don’t know which is more accurate. The VS4 did seem to mirror reality. The pulse ox is low compared to a medical grade pulse ox. But so was the VS4

Not accurate tracking
It works well which is why I'm giving it 3 stars, I have the fitbit charge 5 and I've been comparing the 2, what I've noticed is the vivosmart 5 is always about 200-400 steps behind the charge 5.. and the sleep is not as accurate as the charge 5, the charge 5 tracks micro awakenings, the vivosmart 5 does not. For fitness it's pretty good at tracking, I really wish the step count was more accurate though... my battery life lasts about 3 days before it needs to be charged again, this one time I synced my watch after midnight and it only kept the previous sync data, which was rather frustrating that I lost the extra data, especially since the watch is supposed to be able to hold data for several days before erasing according to the Garmin website... other than that, I like the band, and the fact that it's super light weight and you can barely feel it around your wrist. What I like the most about it, is you have the option of turning off bluetooth, I don't like the idea of having 24/7 emf rays on me, and I don't think bluetooth is necessary when you're home or when you're sleeping, so I'm really happy that it has this option, unfortunately none of the fitbit watches have this option which was one of the main reasons I made the switch to Garmin.
