Worked as promised

All the items were as expected. They did not look as nice as some others that were advertised, but they did the job. I am new to the canning and pressure cooking world so I wish that I would have purchased a set that had included the Ball Canning Guide as many people have since told me that is the "Bible" for canning food. Nevertheless, I have used the Fox Run Canning Set twice and have found each tool quite useful.

Used them for six years, everything still looks great and works well.

I bought this six years ago and still use it as a casual canner. All of the pieces have held up well thus far and the funnel and tongs are useful for more than just canning. Remember with the bottle lifters to use the black part with your hand and the red part for gripping the jars. . . It doesn't work well the other way, though it is the way I tried first for some silly reason. Don't make the same mistake I made.

Canning: Having the right equipment

Canning is becomming more popular as the food quality dwindles in this country. I love growing my own food and canning it for the winter months. I struggled with the hot jars as they came out of the hot-water-bath trying to get them onto the counter. Voila, enter one canning set and now it's a breeze. I love the magnetic stick; ever so useful to get the canning lids out of boiling water!

Canning Essentials

This is my fourth year of canning, and this inexpensive canning set is perfect to get you started. I use them every time I can. The magenet stick is great for getting those flat lids of the bottom of a boiling water pan when you are steralzing.

Ok, but...

This set does include important pieces in used while canning. However, the set seems really cheaply made. I don't think most of the pieces will last very long. The tongs are short and the metal seems flimsy. The plastic on the jar opener doesn't fit well over the metal. The wide-mouth funnel is just lightweight plastic that seems like it could warp with enough heat.
