Nonfunctional, Decorative Gable Vent

Shipped fast from prime. A little expensive for a preformed polyfoam item. The item was a little flimsy and had small cracks on the 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock chevrons. Once installed, caulked and painted (a necessity even if you are keeping it white), it serves it's ornamental purpose.

Great for decoration, but check which type you are buying first if it's not from Amazon

There seems to be some confusion on whether or not this is a solid piece or has slats for ventilation. The unit that I purchased has no openings. It is purely for decoration. As this is what I purchased it for, it worked great for my application. It seems that other sellers are using this SKU to sell ones that have openings. Make sure you check with the seller to make sure you are getting one that is open vs. decorative.

Surface-mounted and doesn't seem like it will stand test of time

I received this item and it does not inspire confidence based on its construction, and I am returning it. It feels super lightweight, and I just don't see how it will stand up to the test of time. Also, upon further reading, I learned that it's surface-mount, rather than fitting into an opening. And the "functional" openings are quite narrow. I dunno. I could be wrong, and it could be fine, but I feel like it's going to disintegrate and someday a future owner of my house will be saying "Why the heck did they put this thing on here?!?!" So I'm returning it. I may actually opt for the cedar version of this made by the same manufacturer, but have not decided yet.

This gable vent was listed as "functional", but here is a more accurate description: this vent is made out of foam. Yes it is a "hard and sturdy" foam, but still plain foam. It doesn't have a J-channel, so if you want to install it properly into your siding it will not come out nice. It doesn't have a mesh backing. Probably it is supposed to just be screwed over your siding and from a mile away it will look nice. I would have returned it just based on functionality (or lack off), but on top of everything I received it snapped in half. I guess that foam was not sturdy enough to last through shipping.

Poor quality product and packaging!

The product is really not well packaged and all the corners were chipped on arrival. So if you use this, you will need to sand and paint it. Very disappointed!
