2-56 Custom Hot Wheels

I’m new to the hobby and broke a tap I purchased from another seller fairly quick so I thought I’d experiment with the set. I’m using a 1/16th to bore out the post and getting beautiful threads. I refer to the set as a cutter, a rough and a finish. I’m using the cutter and rough as often as I can, but some of the posts are so shallow I use the finish because the others won’t bite. I’ve got a dozen cars done already and see these taps working for easily double, triple, who knows how many more.

Fair value on fair quality

I love the different coarse of cut on each tap. Cut straight through solid steel and each finer tap made a clean cut for my bolts to snug up into.

Great Price, Nicely Packaged, Work Well

The tap set (I ordered #8-32 3-piece set) arrived promptly. It was nicely packaged and appeared to be of good quality. The cutting surfaces were sharp, and the taps nicely finished. I used them to tap several blind holes in brass, and they worked just fine. Other reviewers have complained that they are flimsy and not durable, but I certainly didn't observe that. They seem just like any other tap I have used in the past. I'd definitely recommend them.

Quite nice taps... but

One of the taps (the bottoming tap) fell out of the box some time before it got put into the bubble-bag for shipping. If I had _really_ needed the bottom tap I would have raised an issue with the seller but the other two taps did the job for me (it was a through-hole that I ended up using in both cases). Perhaps they could make sure that all of the tap boxes are taped before shipping.... NOTE: You do NOT have to send me a replacement tap!!! This is the first time in my life that I've needed a 4-48 tap. (for storage spots for the little flat & ball-ended tips of a dial indicator and a little electronic height gauge)

Not as advertised!

Ordered as a trial as it seemed too good to be true: a triple set of HSS 1/4-20 taps made in the USA for $20.50C. Ordered March 16th and delivered May 4. Taps are stamped made in China. Not sure how well they work but don't care - long delivery time and not made in the USA. Why call themselves Drill America?

Broke several brand-name taps when tapping into railroad spikes for a small DIY project, but those held on. Positively surprised.
