Great slicer

While I wouldn't call this a true mandoline it does a great job on fruits and veggies. It is so fsafe because your hands are not close to the blade which is very sharp. It does a wonderful job for slicing potatoes into uniform slices for scalloped potatos. Also good for french fries and match stick veggies for stir fry. I use it so much more than I thought I would. There is a small amount of clean up but it is so convenient to slice with this instead of a knife. My only negative comment is that I wish the food chute was a little larger. You have to cut down the veggies and if it were just a bit larger you could do whole potatos and onions as well as other veggies. You just need to make sure you cut the veggies and fruits to fit the food chute. Well worth the money.

Slap chop gets slapped

This baby is a wonder in the kitchen. It slices, it dices! And best of all, it doesn’t chop the tip of my ring finger off when I get slightly distracted! Took me two stitches, a month and a lot of disgruntled feelings until I found this one. I have lost a few bristles off of my bottle brush from cleaning this bad boy, but that’s better than losing more of my finger! 10/10 do recommend. (Also it matches my standmixer as a bonus)

Replaces many more kitchen tools than a normal mandoline

I've had this product for 6 months and I've used it constantly. It definitely deserves a spot in your kitchen. I reach for this before a knife for many jobs now. There's just no comparison with a traditional mandoline - I never worry about slicing my fingers, I don't need special gloves, and it gets right to the very end of whatever I'm cutting. Chopping round slices from cucumbers and carrots is a given. But this has replaced my knives for many of my common tasks - things I wouldn't even think of using a normal mandoline for. Need to dice an onion? It tears through it in seconds with a perfectly fine, even dice. At the thinnest settings with the cross blades extended it turns a potato into hash browns. And between the quick setup, easy cleanup and the fact that it doesn't need electricity, I don't even use a food processor for this any more.

The Slice of Life

I have waited for this product. It is the only decent hand slicer that slices close to “paper thin.” Read the last sentence again. My wife made ratatouille and I had all the vegetables sliced in 15 minutes instead of an hour. I love this thing. If you love to cook and you like a great working product. Yes this is it!!!! This is a 5 slices straight up.

Happy that I purchased this

Since I seem to be prone to cutting myself on knives and mandolines, the design totally appealed to me. After several uses, evenly cut veggies and no cut fingers. My only negative is the process to clean. But, they are dishwasher safe and that helps.

Great value

Great vaule for the price. Works very well and is simple to use. Very sharp blades and requires little effort to clean and folds away very nicely for storage. Makes quick work of all produce i have put through it. Definately recommend buy.

It really works!

Over the years I have had so many mandolins and "clever" slicers with interchangeable blades and security pushers that proved unsuccessful or too dangerous. Well, I don't think this Dash slicer will be leaving my kitchen for quite some time if all continues to go so well. In the first three days I've had the Dash mandolin I have sliced paper-thin to chunky potatoes, dozens of carrots, celery stalks, apples, and onions (thin sliced and chunks). Not everything comes out as neatly as if I had done it by hand because some items move around in the bin as you SAFELY push them into the chute. I have surrendered my need for precision-cut carrots, etc., for less arthritis pain in my hands, and getting the product ready faster. If you bring out the electric food processor for slicing veggies and then have to clean all the parts, I think you will find the Dash slicer much easier to set up and clean, and just as fast and semi-uniform as your big processor. It also has a wider variety of slicing possibilities. My biggest problem when using the Dash is that I get so wrapped up in the processing that I forget to empty the little bowl. So, my second time using it, I opted for one of my many bendable slicing mats that have replaced cutting boards. I set the exit area (back end/foldable legs) feet of the slicer a few inches onto the edge of the mat instead of using the bowl. The mat appears to handle about three times the amount of sliced material as the bowl. I then lift the slicer feet that rest on the mat, slide the mat out, hold the mat sides up a bit to cradle the produce, and unload it into the cooking pot or wherever they will go next. Much easier than chasing the stray bits that overflow the provided receptacle. I think a vulnerable spot to be aware of will be opening and closing the movable legs. They do need to be "clicked" or gently maneuvered into place until you feel them go into their positions indicated by small raised marks on the top of the legs. It may feel more natural as I use it more, but it does need to be done with kindness and not a ham-fisted shove. It also took me several times to get started in the right direction when attaching the receptacle for the _unsliced_ produce and the "pusher". The end with the serrated edges goes toward the slicer stand; and the rounded (or half-circle) part faces up, not toward the table.

Not good

Not a easy way to chop vegetables and also at first I received a used damaged product. This is not a proper way to cell products. I got a replaced product not good as expected.
