Glazed on one side

I bought this to replace our ceramic pizza stone that scratched our glassstove top, because I saw it was glazed. But it's only glazed on the top, so I still have to put something under it to protect the stove top. It's also thinner than our original stone, so there less heat storage when cooking.

Super Kitchen Accessory for Pizza Lovers!

Cuisinart's Ceramic Glazed Pizza Stone is very slick looking and an excellent choice as a gift for a person who makes his own pizza (for example. the vegan in my family) from scratch, on a regular basis. I looked up cordierite and discovered that it is a mineral related to the gemstone iolite, but that in this form it is used for many culinary purposes. It is considered pretty strong (and is also used in the manufacture of catalytic converters in its synthetic form! Just an FYI). This good looking stone by Cuisinart measure's 13". As the average pizza we make here at home is around 12", this is perfect. I like the fact that you can cut on this and also that you can put it in the dishwasher for cleanup. I am not certain we will be cooking at 500 degrees (we usually cook our pizzas at 475 degrees), but the outer box does give a recipe for a pizza cooked that way. The intent is for this pizza stone to be used on the grill as well as in the oven. How cool is that? It would make a very original wedding gift if you consider giving it to a couple who love cooking and grilling! This handsome stone is a wonderful addition to anyone's kitchen. I am delighted to have it.

Superior baking stone

Really good pizza stone. I appreciate the ceramic coating for cleaning. I had a raw pizza stone that absorbed odors and ugly stains. This stone crisps the pizza but leaves it moist and chewy. A very superior baking experience. And cleans up beautifully.

This was a gift so I have not used it but looks like good quality
