Great Shackle, Great Value!
These things are basic, well-made, and durable! I drive a couple different Monteros and have often had questionable tires that have made having straps and shackles a necessity at times. I was up in the snow a few years ago with essentially 33" racing slicks, so I was getting pulled a LOT until I threw chains on. I have put these things through the ringer many times and they have borne the abuse time and time again over multiple years of use. Paint chips, but aside from that, all good! I actually just bought 3 more because of the two I had, I gave one to a buddy who had ended up with none and wanted to have two for each rig, just so I don't forget when swapping stuff back and forth. MUST HAVE!

Good value and cost... except its from china LOL
Expect them to arrive well packed from merchant, but no matter what there will be chipped paint. But if you're going to use them or install them you need to expect that. Value and cost was still better than I could locate locally. I then went to the local hardware store and bought a short length of foam pipe insulation and cut customer "washers" so that they would not rattle around on my AEV bumper. I cut the washers a little thicker so that I could compress them snuggly when mounted. It works perfectly, they do not bounce around and rattle and remain where I position them.

Strong, but.....
These are heavy dut, no if ands or buts, I don't care about it being metric at all, it just needs to work. My complaint lies in that they are very hard to tighten/loose. I am not a small guy, I am not new to overland, rigging and recovery either. That would be indoors on my living room floor. I had to get a screwdriver to undo when I got them out of the box. I can only see how hard they would be to use underwater or below freezing in a real overland recovery operation (which I was in last week. 4 feet of fast moving water, stuck in silt 1 mile downstream from a glacier. Discovered we did not have enough shackles, but got my rig out.) but our high end Warn shackles that had been underwater and under load required tools to remove. I just hope it's possible to remove this one at all. It will be "last" choice untill I test it. I will update my review as well.....

Well made and nice looking shackle
I recently bought 2 of these shackles for the Expedition One front bumper on my FJ. Compared to other shackles I've used, these sure look sharp (see added photo). The finish is smooth and shiny and the pin is easy enough to thread. The pin just barely fits through the attachment holes in the bumper, and I like that because there's no extra slop to cause a rattle. There were some adhesive stickers on them but they peeled off easily and left no residue. Considering the rated strength, nice finish and price I believe these are currently the best value here, at least for me. I'll have to wait some months and see how the finish holds up to trail, sun and weather exposure. I also have some galvanized shackles but the black looks better with black bumpers.

D-ring shackle details
I ordered these based on the VERY limited technical information that Amazon has posted, with the hope that they work. These are metric as another reviewer stated. The shackle is just less than 3/4 inch, and the pin is just smaller than 7/8 inch. The shackle has a 4.75 Ton working load limit stamped on it. I never received a tracking number because I believe it was an international shipment, I read that CSI products are made in China. The powdercoating came with a few chips, but overall good looking for only $20 spent. Hopefully some of this information will help some of you in your buying decision.

Beefy shackle. Paint fades though.
These seem to be very solid shackles. I have them on the front and rear of my Jeep. The red paint fades very quickly. Less than two months and they're pink. My friends call them my Mary Kay shackles and suggest that I sold enough makeup to get these shackles. The black is fading to grey too. Nothing a can of Rustoleum can't fix. Update: The paint is really fading fast on these. The red is now a very light pink. The black is grey where it is exposed to the sun on a regular basis. I keep my Jeep in the garage when I'm not driving it.

Does what I expected and needed it to do.
It fit the loops in my bumper for mounting. The powder coating has held up surprisingly well for what I've put it through. Yes, it has scratched a little with use but that's expected when you hang a big metal hook on it and drag logs around. No concerns about strength. It's never come loose unexpectedly but I do tighten it by putting a phillips head screwdriver through the hold in the pin and cranking it around.

Not for passenger vehicles
bought this for pulling stuff with a tow strap (cars out of ditches, stumps & trees, etc). hoped it would fit in the chain shackle spot on my tahoe but it does not, also confirmed not to fit in the recovery hook for any camry from 1990-2006 and the ford escape (so probably no small passenger vehicles, maybe fits in diesel pickups?). this is listed as 3/4" and just barely doesn't fit so 5/8" would be good for a car. will definitely get used with our tractor though.
