Great map gas rig
The trigger ignition is great, the 5' hose is way better than holding the whole tank while soldering, and the tank holster with belt clip is perfect for overhead work on a ladder or scissor lift. Mine was missing one of the rivets that attach the belt clip to the holster but Amazon customer service made it right.

Torch works great, holster is junk
This torch works great with mapp gas. Adjustable flame is nice. Handle is very light. The clip on the holster for the canister fell apart immediately when trying to clip it to my tool belt. Very cheap rivets fell apart on first use. Thankfully there is still a loop built into the holster to hang it from. Other than that, great product.

Get Something Bigger/Better for Brazing Refrigerant Lines
I've just completed installing and properly tuning a split system air conditioner and evaporator coil to work with my existing gas furnace. I bought the equipment, the R410a, and about $1000 worth of specialty tools (no shortcuts) - almost all online (95% Amazon). I did this - after loads of research - because I wanted to ensure that my specific installation wishes would be fulfilled. And I still saved $1500 over the lowest bid (and that guy completely ignored a specific request). I bought this torch to braze the refrigerant lines, although I do already have some cheap propane torch. I was using 15% silver rod with 5% phosphorous for self-fluxing. It worked so smoothly on a test piece with no heat sinks (wet towels) nearby, but I had a heck of a time doing some of the lines, especially when I had to reheat to fix leaks. It can be done, but I really wish I would have just used the whole ordeal as an excuse to buy an oxy/acetylene torch like I was originally going to. I actually ended up buying one of those oxy/map-pro torches because I thought I needed more heat. And I did. But it ran out of oxygen so fast that, ironically, I completed the job with this thing after all. All that said, it's still a cool product, and I'll be very happy to have it for pressure plumbing, because it's really easy to squeeze in tighter places than a torch on top of a can. It won't stand up by itself or stay on your belt properly with the tall cans, which is my main reason for only giving it four stars (and sometimes HD only has the tall cans). The metal holster portion is great, though, and it starts easily. By the way, what they're selling as MAP/Pro isn't really MAPP gas - it is mostly propylene - much better than propane, but not the end all of fuels.

Stops lighting shortly after buying
The igniter stopped working about a week after I bought this. I have to use a lighter to light the torch which seems kind of pointless. This product needs to be taken back to the drawing board and fix the problems, for $90 it should not be this flimsy.

A real plumber's best friend
For the past 10-15 years, this is the only torch I have used. It's the only torch I want to use. My only complaint is that it would be nicer if it had a belt hook. It does come with a carrier, but I toss that. It's too obtrusive. A simple belt hook would make this the cat's meow. Nonetheless, if you're a plumber or HVAC (etc.), this is a must have. Only a hack would have anything else, especially the torch tips that connect directly to the tank (amateurs).

Better than previous models but...
I bought this item to replace an older model. The main selling point was one-handed operation. I do a fair bit of brazing of small objects and the ability to turn off the flame using the hand that is holding the torch is very important to me. Right out of the package I was somewhat disappointed that the hose was as thick and unwieldy as on the previous model. It is longer than previously but this is a mixed blessing. I had no problem turning the torch on and igniting it one-handed. I had difficulty actuating the button that keeps the flame on one-handed but this is not a big deal. I was able to turn the flame off one handed with no problems. The flame itself is comparable with the previous model and I was able to braze comparable objects with no difficulty. There are, however, several issues which are significant and the reason why I gave only three stars: 1) There is no set of instructions. Unless you have experiece with similar type of torch you will not know that the torch needs to be vented once the main regulator is turned off. If you do not know this you will be storing the hose full of gas. Not a good thing. 2) The hose is thick and unwieldy and tends to get in the way of work. This is worse than on on the previous models because of the increased length. It is vey easy to lose control of the hose and touch something one would rather not, such as the red hot workpiece with consequent damage to the hose. It is difficult enough to worry about the torch itself and the workpiece without having to worry about the hose, too. 3) The holster which comes with the hose is supposed to accommodate the Fat boy gas cylinders. It has a tube attached which is supposed to serve as a holster for the torch nozzle. When attached to one's belt this tube is millimetres from one's body. There is no way one can safely insert the hot nozzle into it without running risk of burning oneself or at least one's clothing. I have made a cylinder holder with a holster which remain stationary near the work area. This way I am considerably safer. Overall this is a marginal improvement on the previous models which did not allow for one-handed operation but one feels that Bernzomatic could have done better still.

Not what I expect for 90$
I have used this one so I felt fine buying it. I solder often and I like the holster and the overall mechanic. The lock for the trigger is temperamental. The feel of the tool is very cheap feeling. Like bad plastic, the tip has a bit of wiggle. Also I did not get a 5' hose. Overall won't buy again when my stops working. Edit: This piece of garbage quit on my within 4months of light use. I already bought another brand for better quality. Terrible customer service on bernzomatics end.

great torch but cheap feeling torch handle/head
i am a professional plumber so i solder copper frequently. squeeze the trigger and torch starts --- it has a trigger lock, hose length is 5 ft which is adequate with a on off regulator on tank to adjust flame size. this torch has worked well for me in the last 2 weeks since i got it and i do really like it the reason for my 4 star review is the torch handle feels flimsy --- the whole torch head just feels like it is a cheap tool ---- the trigger lock button is tricky to lock on with 1 hand ----- also the flame swirl tip does not come off so dont let anything drip into it my other trigger start bernzomatic torch with the tank attached to handle is a very rugged unit with years of flawless service Again i like this unit and it works great ---- i use it and toss it in my soldering tool box if i have any problems with it I will update this review

The lighter stopped working within the first use
It's a nice device and I liked the belt that came with it. The hose is too stiff and unyielding therefore it doesn't work well with the belt. It would have been a tolerable deficiency but the lighter worked only once. After I turned it off, it would not light again. One could use a match.... but then why bother with this device?

Quick and easy to use
Love this it’s my second one. The only problem I had with the first was the trigger lock broke after 9 years of once or twice a week hard use ( it still works just have to hold the trigger now). I use mapp gas and with the swirl flame nozzle it heats pipe and fittings very fast. Don’t use the holster but I can see it being a bonus if your moving around and soldering.

Great torch
I love this torch. It leave your hands free from the burden of the heavy bottle. It does everything that the ad say. I make small jewelry in my free time. It's a great torch to have around for all odd jobs.

Waste of Good Money!
Worked great...for the first day of use. Igniter stop working after that...very disappointed in the product for the money I paid for it. Do not buy this item.
