Lovely clock for living room or den

What I like about this clock: the golden oak matches my other furniture; the setup was easy to understand; it keeps accurate time; it chimes on the hour with several options; it doesn't make a ticking noise; and it's medium sized (not too big, not tiny.) On the negative side for me, I would prefer Arabic numbers instead of Roman; from a distance the clock face is hard to read; it's quite heavy and was a bit difficult to hang. I found it half price from Amazon Warehouse and it works well so far, so I feel it was a good deal for me.

Nice addition that feels like part of my home.

Esthetically finished wall-hanging clock, that plays bell sounds during a day, and stays quiet overnight. It's one of those things that adds a special character to my home. Unlike those expensive mechanical clocks, this one is set and forget, at least until a battery replacement is needed. Setting of hourly bell is easy; manually adjust the hour and minutes to the actual time. Than wait until a minute arm hits the 12 o'clock number. Than press the set button as many times, as the current hour time is at the moment. You can set the clock to stay quiet overnight. But if it continues to ring, advance the time by 12 hours forward to make sure that the clock's day and night times are synchronized with the actual. I bought the lightly finished clock. But I wish, it was just a little darker. It cannot be stained or repainted, not easily as it is varnished with a polyurethane clear paint. Overall, a great addition to my home.

Beautiful but slightly damaged

The clock is beautiful except for the damage shown in the attached photos. The box it came in had several holes in it. It does keep accurate time and I was able to adjust the chimes to work properly. I this this model is the prettiest one out of the available selection.

A beautiful clock deserves the right to be assembled under strict quality check.

Bedford Clock Collection Classic Chiming Wall Clock with Swinging Pendulum, Golden Oak..Arrived on time and well packaged for travel....however I deducted one star because the top hinge on the door was completely trashed. No fault of the seller or the postal handlers, the hinge was badly aligned with the clock body and the screws that held it to the body were at an angle and split out the side of the clock, two big chips were separated from the body as the screws exited,....any quality control person should have caught this immediately ...I chose not to send it back as I can fix a lot of things including building up the broken area and thanks to JB Weld wood epoxy the screws are now anchored in a firm manner ...BUT I shouldn't have had to do this, a buyer expects the product to be well assembled ready to use. This was a gift but thank goodness I had the chance to fix a very serious problem before handing it off. The clock is beautiful and runs well despite its rough beginning. There were no instructions as how to get it to chime on the correct hour...but YouTube is full of advice and I was able to get it corrected. My advice to the manufacturer is to upgrade 'quality check' and also furnish better instructions. A beautiful clock like this deserves a much better production service. Thanks to the seller for quick service.

Great value for the money1

My 30 year old clock fell and broke. I was very upset and ordered this one, which was larger and had 3 more chimes than my original one. I love this clock!!!

Bedford Classic Chime Wall Clock DOA...Bedford Cust Spt no help.

The Bedford Classic Chime Wall Clock case is nicely crafted and we loved the light walnut color...BUT it was DOA. We changed batteries 3 times (12 batteries) and the pendulum swung, however, the minute sweep would not work. Called the Bedford help line--total waste of time (customer support was less than stellar); instructed to change batteries and call Amazon.com if not resolved. Didn't feel like installing a 4th set of batteries so we requested an Amazon.com return and it was immediately approved with an excellent free return grace period of approximately 60 days. Thank you Amazon.com! Update: "IT'S ALIVE"...getting the box ready to pack the Bedford when I heard a chime--the Bedford came back to life...perhaps it's a Walking Dead Zombie Clock :]. Decided to keep it for now and see if survives the next few weeks. I upgraded my rating to 3 stars based on the initial DOA, battery changes, wasted phone call to Bedford's less than stellar customer service. Notified Amazon.com customer service--typical outstanding support cancelling the replacement and refund.
