Ease of use

This makes it so easy to change the batteries with out having to take weather device down.

A great addition to the station.

Well made and makes battery replacement very easy. I enclosed in a plastic bag to extend the life of the pack since it is installed on a post and exposed to the weather. Convenience is well worth the extra cost.

Life span of 4 years.

I replaced my old AcuRite battery pack with the same model. After four years the wire was cracking and the battery terminals corroded. Batteries last about four months. When this is out I will switch to a different weather station brand.

No more climbing on the roof to replace batteries

It seemed like the batteries we lasting shorter periods of time, and needing to be replaced when it wasn't convenient or safe to climb on the roof. I needed this years ago. (It would be nice if the cable were another 6-12 feet longer.)

No more ladders to change batteries, why did I not find this a long time ago. Easy to mount and works like a champ, very pleased.

Great idea and a huge help

Always dreaded having to crawl up onto the roof to change out batteries on the sending unit. Usually there was only one battery that was low. This attachment took only minutes to install and is a great time saver, not to mention probably an eventual life saver in the long run. I'm sure it was only a matter of time before I fell off the roof while changing batteries, but now it is a simple matter of walking over into the closet and opening the battery case and installing a new battery. Great! Really great! always hated crawling up onto the roof to change out batteries

Did it fit? Does it work?

I had asked if this unit would work on model #vn17txca2 and was told that this model number is not a good one for AcuRite. Well, that's the model number that is molded into the bottom housing of my unit. So I ordered the battery pack to see for myself if it would work. Simple answer is yes, it works with model #vn17txca2. Just wish the cord was longer, (need about 15 more feet for my application). Use to have to use two ladders to change the batteries, now only one ladder will be needed. Unit is mounted to the gable end of a two story house. For now I will give it 4 stars. Will see how it hold up.

***Update #2 (December 8, 2020): Both remote battery pack and AcuRite weather station are going strong without any issues. Still ORIGINAL batteries since Christmas 2018 ~ Using Lithium batteries as better in Cold climate weather.** **Update (March 18, 2020): The remote battery pack is still is use without issue....AND still the original batteries since Christmas 2018....We have experienced all weather conditions since then and the unit has literally weathered them all from nearly -50 C to + 30 C...snow, rain and a LOT of sunshine!! Very pleased!!** Gifted for Christmas 2018 with the AcuRite weather station and it is completely compatible. It was received quickly and works well so far. The cord is long enough to allow for easy access to the batteries for changing them all while keeping the main battery compartment undercover and out of the elements. A great feature is the fact that the batteries are separated into two sets so that you can ensure you do not lose your historical data when changing the batteries. I hope this review was helpful!

Good but read the one con.

Works excellent easy to install into battery compartment. Cons would have been nice if the cord had a jack at the battery holder so it could fit through a small hole . I opened the battery holder unsoldered wires put them through small hold and resoldered . Works great.
