Perfect for noodles.
I love making Japanese food. Especially ramen and udon. This is a great tool for straining the noodles and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Perfect Skimmer!
The long handle and light frame makes this a perfect skimmer for removing foam from boiling and simmering pots, removing deep fried food ... as long as what it touches is lightweight. I don't use it to stir the bottom of the pot. Treated with respect, this skimmer should last for years.

Too shallow to be fully useful
I was thinking I needed a really fine-mesh strainer to wash quinoa and millets. This will work for a small amount. I wasn't aware from the picture or description that while it is 6" across - and this measurement is deceptive because the usable mesh part is just barely 5 1/2" - it is only 7/8" deep; that measurement including the rim but not the heavier wire supports below the mesh. So it holds what, about a half cup of fine grain safely? Yes, I tried washing more and it slopped over, too full. I do like the way it is made, with the handle wires dipping down to become support for the mesh. I like that it can be hung by either the far end of the handle or the part up near the strainer. It seems reasonably well constructed. Time will tell about corrosion, etc., of course. It is made in China by Winco. Certainly this is still a good tool for certain tasks in the kitchen, such as skimming, but if you want to wash millet, quinoa or other fine material, try this: HIC Brands that Cook 5 1/2" Nylon Mesh Strainer (but not the 7" one) - which does not state that it is fine mesh but I just bought the 5 1/2" one and not a grain of millet passed through its mesh.

Seems to be a well constructed strainer.
I was looking for a fine strainer made of stainless steel because the Calphalon strainer that I had broke after only a few uses. The Calphalon strainer has the handle connected to the strainer with 3 spot welds, and the welds broke rendering the strainer useless. The construction of this strainer looks much more durable. The strainer part looks as fine as the Calphalon strainer. So it should do as well with straining scum from corned beef or small particles from broth. The metal handle extends under the strainer. So there should be more support to prevent the handle from breaking off. The only possible disadvantage that I can see is that the strainer may be a bit more difficult to clean because food particles may stick to the handle extensions that go under the strainer. It also doesn't have the solid, rubberized handle that the Calphalon strainer has, but that doesn't detract from the functionality. After I have used this strainer for a while, I will update my review if I have any problems with it. For now, it looks like it will serve my purposes.

Great for skimming soups and canning, and fishing wontons out of the pot
I've got several colandar-style strainers that I use for washing grains and draining pasta. What I needed was a mesh spoon type skimmer for canning and cooking. This Winco 6" (the mesh head part is 6 inches, the handle is longer) strainer is just what I needed. It's totally stainless, which means it can go in the dishwasher and it won't react to acidic foods like tomatoes. The mesh is fine enough to strain tomato seeds from the canning pot, and the two wire arms under the mesh give it more support for lifting heavier food items. I've also used it when making wontons - it drains the water without damaging the pasta when I remove them from the boiling water. This is a well made, decently priced kitchen tool. With free Supersaver Shipping on orders over $25, I'm glad I bought it!

What I was looking for
I ordered a set of fine mesh skimmers and they were supposed to be 5.5 inches, they weren't, they might have been 3inches. So I found this 6inch one and it was exactly what I was wanting to skim our deep fryer, it's a bigger fryer and this is the perfect size.
