Like another reviewer said, it is small
I love the color, quality of construction, and that the straps and size are good for shorter people. (Plus there is matching luggage.) But the bag is meant for slim, rectangular objects like laptops and tablets - not so good for a commuters that also carry a hydroflask/yeti/contigo etc. I have to pack my stuff in a very specific order to get it all in there.

Well made but basic in style
I’m not quite sure about this bag. I like it, but I’m not convinced it represents value for money. First the pros. My city is unfortunately home to lots of pickpockets, and some of them are bold enough to try to slash their way into bags. That wouldn’t be a concern here. The Thule Spira is made from thick, sturdy material that you’d need power tools to breach, so no worries there. The overall build quality is extremely good. The padded laptop/tablet pocket is also secure and inaccessible to thieves, and it’s larger than advertised. It’s designed for a 13” laptop and a 10.1” tablet, but I managed to fit my 14” HP Elitebook and 10.5” iPad Air with little difficulty. It seems Thule built in some wiggle room, so if your hardware is a little larger don’t write this bag off. Now the cons. While the build quality is excellent the side zippers are easily accessible, with no panel beneath which to hide them. If I use this out in the city I’ll need to stay on guard, because a skilled pickpocket could fairly easily access the main compartment without my knowledge. I’m also not quite sure about the shoulder straps. They’re densely constructed but unusually thin, and under a heavy load it seems like they may begin to cut in a little. Of course this isn’t a large bag, so unless I load it up with bricks I’m unlikely to put the straps under a heavy load, but I’d have preferred them to be a little wider to help dissipate the weight. I dunno. I’ll give it 4 stars. This bag will probably last a lifetime. I can see no points of weakness at all, and I’d put money on the stitching never failing. I’m just not all that sold on the basic appearance. At this price point I kinda feel as if a bag should catch the eye, and the Spira doesn’t quite do it for me. That’s entirely subjective, of course.

Nicely made and designed.
Thule's Spira Backpack is made from a matte finished black fabric. The fabric used is dense and well finished. The interior of the bag is finished in a gray fabric, that is also high quality. All of the zippers open and close smoothy. It is very robust feeling and should stand up to abuse well. There are many small glossy black metallic touches on the bag in the form of zipper pulls, the logo plate, and the feet on the bottom of the bag. Overall the bag has a modern and sleek look to it, that borders on sterile. The bag is nicely organized. Inside the main compartment are a number of small pockets for organizing odds and ends. There are three open pockets, one large and two smaller, and one zippered pouch. On the front of the backpack is a zippered pocket, and around back is a padded zippered pocket meant to hold a laptop and tablet. The back pocket held my 13.3" Google Pixelbook Go and 10" iPad Pro nicely and kept them well protected. The front pocket held my iPhone and car keys, while the interior pockets held my sunglasses, phone charger, portable fan, chapstick, and wallet. Even holding all of these items there was plenty of space for more. The bag has an odd looking flap on the top that snaps shut. The genius of the flap is that you can open the bag partially to retrieve something and not have it open all the way. The bag is comfortable to wear for hours at a time, with decently padded straps. The one issue I noticed is that the back doesn't breath well, so I get a sweaty back in warmer conditions. All in all... a thoughtfully designed backpack.

So So Backpack
This backpack is sleek looking and low profile for an unobtrusive look when you're traveling with your gear. Thule thought of lots of neat ways to make this luggage work for the everyday person, including an elastic band to stick onto your rollaboard luggage when your shoulders tire. Unfortunately this backpack fell short for me in terms of comfort and ease of use. The "padded" straps are very thin, and have very little actual padding so if you're carrying more than a very light load your shoulders will be screaming at you before long. The clasps, zippers, and rolltop features are designed to make for easy compartmentalization, but actually just make it harder to get to your stuff easily and quickly..might be good if you worry about thieves and pickpockets, but for everyday use it's a pain.

Better for Smaller Frames
This backpack is very stylish and very good quality. There are multiple compartments and pockets in different areas of the backpack. The first one is directly behind the shoulder straps. There is space for a 13 inch lap top and for a tablet. I like how there is a separate access for your computer and you can access without having to open the main compartment. I have an iPad pro and it couldn't fit in the tablet storage. My iPad pro has a case, but I don't think the case is overly large. Smaller tablets should be able to fit. The main compartment has room for books, papers, etc. It also has additional compartments, probably good location for a cell phone charger and other small items. Personally, I thought that this compartment is too small. I am surprised that it doesn't have a little larger capacity. Lastly, there is a luggage pass through panel so it works will with small carry-on bags. Overall, the quality is good, but I was expecting something a little more substantial that provides more utility and a little larger. As a 6 foot tall man, with a medium build, this bag was too small for me. Luckily, my wife, who is 5'3" and whom is pretty small liked it and it fits her well. Overall, it is on the smaller side, doesn't provide as much utility as I would have liked and better for people with smaller frames, but the quality is pretty nice.
