Warm and lightweight
I wear this under everything all winter here in North Idaho. Very thin, so you hardly know it there, but keeps a layer of warmth and seems to wick moisture off. I got the long (or tall) though I am not tall. Just nicer to have it hang down lower.

Snuggly and comfortable
These are great EXCEPT when there are wind gust past 30mph, then you will feel like you forgot to wear your thermal underwear. I wore them in 16° degree cold ???? weather and they were fine. I wore them one day it was 24° degrees with wind gust up to 30mph and the wind chill degrees in the single digits. OMG it was an experience I wouldn't want to suffer again!!! Just keep that in mind other than that they are warm and comfortable.

Comfortable, Durable and Light
These silk undershirts go with just about anything. They can be used as a first layer in winter when you're in and out of warm buildings where you'd have a tendency to be too hot. I like to layer them under a long-sleeved cotton T shirt with a fleece vest when I go to sleep-- warm, but not too warm. In warmer weather I put on a short-sleeved T-shirt when I need a little more warmth but not too much. Best to hand-wash as silk can fall apart if machine-washed all the time.

Decent, lighter weight undershirt
I give it 4 stars, but only because I bought it "off season" when the price was *much* lower than it's been since mid-Fall. (That may explain the discrepancy between some of the reviews, too, since most reviewers don't mention what they paid for it.) Mine was about ten bucks, in mid-September. It's easily worth that price. I bought one to try and left the item in the "Saved for Later" part of Amazon's shopping cart to buy more if I liked it, but by the time I'd thought to order more, the price had shot WAY up. (The same thing was true for the glove liners I bought, and the long johns I unfortunately did not buy the first time around.) As always, silk is *much* warmer than cotton and warmer than most wool, but that's as measured *by weight*. This undershirt is warmer than a currently-common thin cotton undershirt, but no warmer than a heavier cotton T-shirt. But is IS much thinner and more comfortable. I especially like wearing it under a thinner pullover, where it provides adequate protection (for both my skin and the sweater) and a little extra warmth without visible bulk. (I do wish they made them with a V-neck, though, since the collar is a tad high and tends to show around the neck of many of my sweaters.) The wrist cuffs are a bit on the loose side, but that's pretty typical of pure silk and I've always found this a common problem with long-sleeved silk undershirts, the fiber just isn't as springy as cotton and some types of wool. A little lycra in the cuffs would be nice, but seriously, I wouldn't expect that sort of touch in anything but a very expensive shirt - WIntersilks don't have it either. But at full price ($20s), I won't be buying more. (If/when prices go back down next Spring, I will stock up, however.) I don't own any recent-vintage Wintersilks, so I don't know how they're making *them* these days - the few pieces I have are all more than 20 years old. (Living in NYC where it very rarely gets "bitterly" cold, I just don't have all that much use for them, though I have worn them regularly, if not frequently, every Winter for all that time.) To be fair, not all of my Wintersilks have surived that long, but a few have, and I don't take special care of them. They go in the warm/color wash and get dried in the drier. I very seriously doubt, on the other hand, that this shirt will last 5 years, much less 20. And since I can't be bothered with things like "lingerie bags" for the washer, am very unlikely to risk putting these through a regular wash cycle along with my other clothes. The fabric isn't terrible. It's not so much that the yarn seems much thinner than other silk undergarments', but the knit is definitely looser.

Great but short
When I ordered, they didn't have any options for the Tall sizes. I didn't know they existed until I came back here to write this review. Everything about the shirt is great but at 6', it is short. It almost doesn't hit the waist of my pants. I was going to return it until I came here and saw that the drop-down has options for Tall now. Overall, the shirt is great. I'd buy again if I had tall. Just wanted to make others aware that it looks like if they are out of stock of something, it won't show so you won't know.

Very light weight- prefer "heavier" weave .
Liked the product - just a little too lightweight for very cold weather.

Light but warm
This product is so light you hardly know you have it on but layered under a thermal shirt or sweater it keeps you toasty. I find it works great on long cold hikes in the hills.

Fabric content is genuinely 100% silk; length is below hip; accurate sizing
This top is just as advertised, which was a bit of a relief--quite a large number of the long underwear listings on Amazon have incorrect fabric content listed, or sometimes it lists two or three different fabrics within one listing. Many of their listings are just a mess if you are trying to find non-polyester, natural fabric options--even if you search "silk" you get all manner of nonsense. Many of the tops and bottoms listed as "silk" are not silk at all (especially from the Chinese vendors who call some shiny polyester fabric "ice silk", among other problems) and I was not yet familiar with this particular manufacturer (Terramar), but it is indeed silk filament or silk knit (aka silk jersey or spun silk) so buyers may feel confident in ordering this brand or from this page. Also, the size is right--many of the vendors are using Chinese sizing instead of U.S. so even when you find real silk base layers, a size "XL" is liable to equate to a U.S. Medium. Some listings mix Chinese-sourced options (different colors for example) with U.S. or other options on the same page or in the same listing, so it gets really confusing which sizing scale you are getting (I sure wish Amazon would make the sellers clean up these listings). Anyway, I ordered an XXL for this top (men's, the women's are not even available in XXL which is really unfortunate) and it is a true XXL, going by U.S. sizing scales. An added appeal of this top is that is is nice and long so the bottom hem should go over the wearer's bum (depending on height and body type of course) which is nice for the cold weather when your bottom can get very cold! I definitely recommend this long john option for silk knit base layers! The black color is a true black.
