Motorcycle Ride

I soak it with water it was heavy. Wrung it several times to get the dripping water to stop. It weigh okay. Put my leather perforate jacket on still okay. Went for a ride. When you ride in 87 degrees; warm air is what cools you and after awhile you get hot. I did not get that warm air feeling. It did cool the air coming in. However it is weird riding with this vest, I can't explain why. It doesn't drip and it does feel like cool air coming in but you feel a damp weight on your body even though the dampness is causing no problem. I took a 30 minute ride and I do believe it cool me. When I took it off it was still damp. So I did have time left to be cooled. Without the Motorcycle Jacket it felt humid. The jacket felt slightly damp in the inside. I could feel the extra weight of the vest caused my muscles to be tight even though it didn't seem heavy at the beginning of the ride. It would take me a while but maybe I could get use to this vest, but for now the temp goes down tomorrow so there will be no need for it. I honestly can say I will avoid wearing it if I can. Maybe at 95 I will try it again. Since I only needed it for Motorcycle Riding, the score reflects that use only. It might score higher if it is used in another way,

Inconsistent and listed weird

I bought one over a year ago and it is thin and does not keep the cooling factor for more than a couple of hours. The new one I bought I want to get a friend because it is thicker and definitely lives up to the 6-8 hours of expected cooling. One is a generic hyperkewl while the new one is a hyperkewl plus design. I really would like for the product to be listed properly or separately for the original hyperkewl versus the plus version. My friend wants one, though needs one with the thicker lining which is the plus version.

How do I love you? Let me count the ways.... I understand that the technology behind this vest is not unique. However, this is the cooling vest I happened to purchase while anticipating my motorcycle ride to San Miguel Allende, Mexico. I live in Los Angeles. It is possibly I bought this vest because of the reasonable price, and somewhat secondarily, the design. After all, this was my first chill vest purchase. What did I know? It is now April 2018. I just road my motorcycle down to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I figured I’d need the vest down there; and I did. But long before I reached Mexico, I encountered 90 degree temps in Arizona and New Mexico. I brought a 1 gallon zip lock bag to dunk the vest in. I poured a1 liter bottle of water into the ziplock that held the chill vest, and the chill vest soaked up the entire liter of water. I put the vest on, zipped up my motorcycle jacket (non-perforated (but with zippered vents) and after that I forgot about the heat....except for my arms which weren’t cooled by the vest. I LOVE this chill vest. When I was needing the cooling vest while in Mexico, I swore that I would have paid 4 times the price to have it. I even took off my jacket while waiting in my motorcycle in the sun in the auto line at the border, dunked the jacket in my ziplock, and forgot about boiling over in the 12 moon sun. Can’t say enough about it. I loved using this chill vest. As I write this, I am on my way to the Grand Canyon thru New Mexico and Arizona on the end of the trip mentioned above, and I used the vest twice today. Did I mention that I LOVE this vest? I will never travel in warm weather again without it.

Worked very well in humid 98 degree heat

This was a panic buy because the weather for a long-awaited motorcycle trip was predicted to be in the upper 90s. Reading the reviews, I ordered a Medium, which is a size down from what I probably would have ordered. It still fit a little loose in some areas - I could feel the hot wind getting under it. But enough of it fit against my body that it worked very well. In combination with wet-down sun sleeves and head wrap under my helmet, I made it through the weekend. With the stretchy sides, I think this size will fit my husband, and I will order another one in Small. When needed, it's pretty easy to recharge it with a quick dunk and wring in a restroom sink. I wore it over a thin, synthetic fiber Danksin exercise/running shirt, which didn't give me the clammy, clinging-to-my-skin feeling as a cotton tee would have. Though the humidity that weekend was high as well as the temperature, even when I wasn't moving at motorcycle speeds I could feel it wicking away at least some body heat. The vest seems heavy when you soak it but after wringing out the excess water, it's fine. On this particular weekend I didn't wear my armored mesh jacket (yes, go ahead and yell at me, I should still have worn it), but I did try the vest on under the jacket to see if it would fit, and it did. In fact now that I think about it, the vest might have worked better under the jacket, because the jacket would have forced the vest to lie closer against my torso.

Really works

Just got back from a motorcycle trip in 100*F heat. Cooling vest makes a huge difference. Wore it under my textile jacket. Lasted 4+ hrs before needing to be soaked again for best results. Your shirt under it will be slightly damp but not soaked like you might imagine. I’m around 165 lbs, medium fit fine.

Works well when its really hot. I use it so as to not over heat. I would purchase again.

cool but not dry

I got this vest for riding around on my motorcycles on really hot days and it does a very good job of keeping me cool for just around 2 hrs. after that it gets a little "swampy" until I can recharge it. I also used it around the house during a 100 degree plus heat wave and it helped out a lot. I don't get sloppy wet in it but there are spots around the hem that can get wet, usually around the waist area. I recommend the vests to my friends.
