When Close is Good Enough

John Deere would have you believe that only "their" belt will work on "their" pulleys on "their" mowers. They go to great lengths to specify length, width, V-pitch down to three decimal places. Any substituted products will result in the end of the free world as we know it. Then again - may be not. All of the JB belt applications require the use of a tensioner pulley - somewhere in the mix. Ergo, any additional length (or, even - slightly less length) will be compensated for thru the tensioning pulley. A bit wider belt, rides higher in the pullies. A bit narrower belt will ride lower. Each compromise will effect the nominal perfect belt length. Here again, all those minor variations will be accommodated thru the tensioning pulley. There are caveats: A JD specific belt may accommodate considerations specific to its use. Certain equipment may require extra durability and operating temperature considerations. Going with a generic alternative, which is likely much cheaper (1/2, 1/3, 1/4 of the JD part), could be cuz it's not fabricated as robustly. It may not use kevlar. It may not be as heat tolerant, etc. This particular belt is ok for my JD x320 riding mower, for the blade to blade application on the mower deck. Yes, it will still break if sticks and branches get caught up in the pullies. But, so does the JD part - and, I don't cry nearly as much over it.

Fit perfectly

This lawn mower belt is not OEM but it is manufactured to OEM specifications and is half the cost. It fit perfectly and was easy to put on. I've been using this replacement for a couple of months now and have had no problems. I will update this review in a couple of months to let you know how it's holding up.

Why pay more . . .

The belt fit perfectly and I replaced the idler pulleys and blades at the same time (these have bearings in them and are critical to belt longevity). For under $100, my 23 year old mower is like new and cuts like never before. It's hard to write a review on a belt because it either works or it doesn't. This one works like a charm and only time will tell but I have no reason to believe that it will not outlast the OEM belts. Unless I am sadly mistaken, this is the belt that I'll be using for now and the future.

Less expensive than Deere Belt

Seems to work fine and a lot less expensive than the John Deere replacement belt. Would purchase this item again. Hard to love a belt (5 stars) until it's used for awhile. For now, it's 4 stars.

Same belt but better price than at the shop

Looks like good quality but better price than from local dealer, we'll see how it lasts. I expect same as original longevity.

Just the right size, seems to work fine and looks like a quality product. Somewhat cheaper than the John Deere product. I'm pleased so far, no complaints.
