Works

I’m using this on a CNC lathe for production work. I have a good royal center that costs around $700 so I didn’t want to buy another one for my other machine so I bought this one. It says max rpm is 3000 I’m only running 2000 for the price you can’t go wrong

Stiff

It took a wrench and heat to get the spindle unseized on this unit. Wasn't cold in our shop (sat for a day at room temp) but would not spin. Not sure what kind of grease is inside or if it was exposed to excess moisture but eventually it spun but not very cleanly (sounds like grit in the bearings). Held weight decently and for the small lathe we are using it on, it will perform ok for non precision work. Obviously for the price its ok (except the seized bearing, a product needs to at least meet the basic operation requirements).

Fake Rubber Sealing

The cone did not turn when I took it from the box. It started to turn normally after I applied some force. I unscrewed the ring which covers the bearing (by hand, it was not tightened) and saw a rubber (or PVC) sealing there. The inner diameter of the sealing is 1-2 mm bigger than the corresponding diameter of the cone :( . So, the sealing is a fake, it does not protect the bearing at all. However, the bearing itself has a very good standard sealing, most likely it will do the job. I think, I will end up by installing a self-made felt ring instead of the rubber one. But all the rest looks pretty good and precise, the turning is smooth as well. The center is doing its job and looks to last more or less.

Great value when on sale.

I got this item on sale, about 2/3 the price of Harbor Freight .The #1 taper shaft fits into the tailstock of my Sears/ Atlas lathe.

Can take abuse.

This thing is a beast. I use it to hold work on a spinning lathe and beat the heck out of it. It squalls a bit periodically but so far still spins nice and true. I did not expect it to last at all.

Another product I recommend

I love my live center. Could not do the job I have done without it. I beat the crap out of it and its still working great. I made sure not to comment on most if not all my tool purchases until I've used them aggressively, to insure they hold up and i give the next person who maybe interested in purchasing one an honest opinion, which I have done to this one.

Good Live Center

Works great. Runs smooth, quiet and cool. Bearings have not shown any signs of heating. Totally happy with it.
