This will not run on modern machines...
On a 2019 Mac it refuses to install due to the installer being pot of date and needing to be updated by the software manufacturer. On a modern Windows 10 installer the software asked for a Windows XP machine... WINDOWS XP! This needs to be updated or scrapped at the price they are selling these disks for.

Not All Children Will Respond Equally
My daughter (3 years old) is doing great at learning computer skills and putting pictures into the right groups, etc. But so far this hasn’t really encouraged her to speak. I’m hoping that will change as time goes on because I can see it being a very useful tool. Unfortunately right now while it is showing us she has the intelligence, it’s also not helping much with her speech. Again I’m hoping that will change with time. I do recommend this as I think it can help many children but not all will respond equally well.

Great Digital Implementation of the Popular Picture Nouns Cards
I have a young daughter who has autism and is non-verbal. I have seen her utilize the Language Builder Picture Nouns Cards at both her speech and ABA therapies. They have had fairly good success with her since attempting this PECS system based route. I wanted to try it at home, but something that we could utilize on a laptop while sitting on the couch at home. The physical cards were just too numerous for us to work with in a home-based setting. So when I saw we could get 550 images that are taken directly from cards set, I knew this would be a perfect fit. You can use this software with both Windows and Mac operating systems. I love the ability to use the touchscreen on my laptop, so my daughter can actually physically touch the pictures. I can also record her saying the word in her own voice and then play it back for her to hear. This helps to further motivate her to attempt the sound of the word again. They offer several different activities including: receptive labeling, matching identical images, multiple choice, sorting similar images, and grouping by category. They give you the ability to select which words, word lists, or categories you want to practice with your child. You can also print multiple-choice and matching worksheets using the pictures and words. The software also allows classroom management controls by allowing one to adjust settings for individual login accounts and to track multiple students’ work. Finally, the website states that the kid friendly but not juvenile design allows for use with adults learning English or another foreign language, adults with Autism, Aspergers, Alzheimers, aphasia, or those who need rehabilitation from stroke and will not make them feel awkward using this program. I think it's great that this software can be used to assist those with other conditions to learn or relearn English. I feel that this software will provide endless and invaluable benefits for my daughter in developing her use of language. This product is certainly worth the price, which actually costs even less than the cards themselves. *Additional Note: For those wanting a full list of images included with the software, then just visit the Stages Learning website.

Great tool for schools and kids.
I love this! I got this to help the kids at my daughters school. There are many autistic children there with varying stages of learning and difficulties. Some of the kids have benefited from this albeit others haven't. This is to be expected as everyone is different. You can use this with windows or Mac pcs and a standard set up and mouse. It is great because there are many different activities so that the kiddos do not get bored. They can do shapes, sorting, labeling, grouping by category, matching. language. You can use this with a classroom set up if you want and track the kids which is awesome if you have that kind of set up and it allows more use across the board. With over 550 pictures to look at, the repetitive learning was a big hit with the younger kids. My son was a preemie and we had Easter seals come because he had a hard time catching up with a lot of his skills, and these are the one on one things she did with him, and you would never know today that he had an issue. Had I had this available or known this, it would of been great to use this myself. I think it is worth the money for sure.

Helpful aid
My son is in a special ed program, and sees a Speech path. He's 5 and talks, but his speech isn't fluent. I found this software a great companion to outside school services. It's a program him and I can work on and build up his vocab. This software is pricey, but so is a lot of the AAC/speech software. I found the set up of this program a bit confusing at first, and remembering the password for this (which is the company's name).
