Bel-Art Scienceware 246750000 White Labmat Liner and Sheet, 50' Roll
Excellent lab mat liner. Very absorbent and gives a little bit of a cushion for glassware. While its meant to be a single use liner, ive been able to reuse them a few times once they dry out. But the absorbency and the adhesion of the layers suffers. Still perfect for what it is, i highly recommend it.

Perfect size for pre-cut on lab bench protection
Perfect size for pre-cut on lab bench protection. Most liners came in crumpled. Should have been packaged better and tightly in the box.

Absorbs many fluids and protects bench surfaces
Generally, this lab bench liner is a fine product. The liner works well at preventing soak-through and staining for fluids and chemicals compatible with the polyethylene backing. The liner also provides a limited amount of fluid absorbency for minor spills. The liner also seems to produce minimal amounts of lint or dust, which is a great plus. In other words, it is a fine liner for any surface where chemicals and fluids are in use. The polyethylene liner also helps grip the bench to prevent liner slippage, which is critical. Some liners we have used have poor grip and have required tape to keep in place. However, the liner is relatively fragile, so it is apparently not intended to be physical protection. The 50-foot roll is continuous, so a pair of scissors for cutting the liner to length is a must. The box with the roll of liner is relatively light, and we had difficulty trying to get the liner through the slot. We finally gave up, removed the liner roll from the box, pulled out the amount we wanted, and cut it. The one issue we had is price. Our benches are eight feet long, so one roll will cover five benches, or one bench five times. It may be that covering a bench for something approaching ten dollars is not a big deal for some organizations, but in the context of, for example, a school chemistry lab when the liner needs removed at the end of each class, the costs skyrocket pretty quickly. Of course, the need remains, so it is either come up with a less-expensive solution, which we have yet to find, teach the kids how to avoid spilling chemicals (good luck with that), or figure out how to pay for the liner, which is actually one of the lower cost liners with the protective capabilities. While we complain about the price, functionally this liner works well. While the absorbency is for "minor" spills, in most cases only small quantities of chemicals are in use so "minor" works quite fine indeed. We could wish for a slightly thicker polyethylene backing layer, but we also use this liner with a rubber underlayer to minimize glassware breakage, so the thickness of the polyethylene is typically less of an issue. Four stars for a product that meets our needs.

Better with drips than spills (though adequate for quick cleanups). Handy with both chemicals and general household uses.
I actually got this for my partner's tattoo shop, but ended up finding so many uses for it in my home and business that I just kept it instead. It's not up to super heavy use, but it is a thin absorbant sheet backed by a thin plastic film, so it's great for minor spills or frequent replacement in spots with frequent/heavy spills. I really wish it had a serrated cutter; then it would be an easy 5 stars. Here's where I use it: -When I'm cutting up and freezer packing large amounts of raw chicken and want a safeguard for chicken juice drips (place it under the cutting board--raw meat will stick to the paper surface, so I don't touch it directly) -Mixing dyes and dyeing small runs of fiber--easy cleanup for drips (but inadequate for actual spills, so I'm careful) -Handling or mixing any caustic or poisonous household chemicals -Under stain or paint can while I'm working to catch drips (especially good with stain, which is thinner and sneaks drips) -Under the automatic litter box (we have one cat who manages somehow precisely aim the pee between the machine and tray) -As a base layer in a small chicken brooder for super easy cleanup--this is best in just the first 1-4 weeks; after that, their scratching is too serious -As a liner for the cat carrier

Light duty absorption, 20" x 50ft. Convenient small roll, but square foot cost is almost 3x that of larger rolls
We got the white all purpose roll. It's 20" x 50ft roll of light duty absorption, currently priced at $45 per roll (about 55 cents per sq ft). There are brands for almost 1/3 the price right here on Amazon (SPC, New Pig, ESP, etc). Even Uline (not exactly cheap) is about half the price for a thicker media. It all depends what you're using it for. I would say the Bel-Art roll is a nice portable size, easy dispenser, and convenient to order off Amazon. It's also good for a thousand uses (science lab, art class, workshop, garage, medical, etc). But if you're going to use this on a regular basis, and it doesn't need to be the orange roll (not bio-material), then I would suggest looking into one of the more cost effective options I mentioned.

Way better than using craft paper to protect a tabletop.
To be perfectly honest, I don't have a lab bench to use these as intended. I do however have a craft table that I want to keep protected from messes like paint, glue and other liquids. For that purpose, the Labmat Bench liner roll is great. The soft paper-like side is great at absorbing liquids and the plastic side prevents penetration through to the table. The other benefit is they stay in place so my work project material doesn't slide around. The material is thin enough so items don't tip over but thick enough to do the job. The 50' roll is a little pricey but should last a long time so it probably works out well. Certainly cheaper than replacing a tabletop.
