Durable and strong

Very very high quality. I Purchased this for my Czech German shepherd. It's is the perfect agetation collar for man tracking or bite work. The collar did take 3 months to arrive after I placed the order. But honestly I think the wait is worth it. The only thing I could critique would be the handle on the collar. It is flimsy and I wouldn't trust it in a serious situation. It almost seems like the handle was added on by a second party, as it is different leather, the stiching is different and the hardware used for the handle is different then the rest of collar. Handle is still strong don't get me wrong, it's just definitely not the same grade of durability as the rest of the collar.

**Update August 20th 2019: I bought this collar in December of 2014 and it is still as solid as the day I received it. It has aged very nicely and I have given the link to this product to at least 4 people that have complimented the collar. This collar is still AWESOME!** This collar is awesome. Incredibly strong, well built, and beautiful. This isn't a collar designed for a little whimpy dog. This is a collar for dogs with power! I bought this after my girl decided to test the strength of those off the shelf collars from Petsmart while walking on the greenway. Long story medium, I was walking on the greenway in my neighborhood when a surprisingly aggressive and territorial male golden retriever decided to try and act tough to my girl. She wasn't having any of his growling/snarling towards me so she went into protection mode and snapped the original collar I had for her along with the leash (both from petsmart). After grabbing her and making it back home I decided I needed a heavy duty collar. I ordered this collar that night along with a leather leash (ordered from a guy I was recommended to). It arrived 2 days later and I was extremely pleased with how well it works. It has a handle for immediate control of your k9 as well as hardware that could probably support the weight of a pickup truck suspended in air. Aside from the obvious practical benefits of this collar are it's astetic benefits. Rarely do I take my girl to the store or on a walk and not get questioned about this collar. Overall, 5/5, have bought and will buy for every dog I own!

Outstanding Quality in Super Collar

I bought two of these collars for my two dogs. The dogs were using wide nylon collars before and I began not to trust the nylon collars any more, even though the dogs had them for only about 6 months. The dogs are 15 months old, and have grown to be very strong. We walk out 2 miles each morning, both dogs on a dual coupler leash so that I can handle them with one longer traffic lead. They are learning not to pull so hard on their leashes, but they are so eager to go for their walks, and so exuberant that I had fears that the collar ring might come loose from the nylon collars and a dog could be off the leash. I went is search of a very strong collar and I found these heavy, dual-layer leather agitation collars. From their description, they seemed perfect. Fast shipping got them here in no time. These collars are everything and more than they are described here on Amazon. I cannot imagine having to purchase another collar for either dog. They are a bit stiff since they are new, but as time goes with use I expect them to soften a lot. And they are comfortable for the dogs to wear all the time, being able to tighten them just right so that neither dog can back away and slip a collar (that happened once, and was very scary, the dog running in the street and me chasing it). The construction of these collars is superb, quality is evident in feel, craftsmanship, workmanship,and looks. I would recommend these collars to anyone who needs a very strong collar (quite possibly the strongest collar available, anywhere) that will wear literally forever, continue to look beautiful, and be comfortable on your dog. Certainly a 5-star purchase.

Worth every penny!

I purchased a similar product for my great dane last year. I didn't initially need a collar for my cane corso pup, as he has an exquisite harness made from the same leather. However, the pup is now #120 and growing. The harness is great for walks, but I find that the collar, especially the agitation collar, which comes with a handle, is better regarding training and giving a handler extra support when a dog is aggressive. I was unable to find the vendor I purchased my original collar from. I ordered a different collar from amazon, immediately returned it as it turned out not to be leather and was vinyl and lightweight. Thankfully, I was able to find this collar, which is JUST what I was hoping for...a duplicate of my dane's collar. After owning the previous collar for well over a year I can tell you all that it withstands romps in the woods, roughhousing with two extra-large canines. My dogs play in the water and over time this collar just becomes my pliable, but never loses it's sturdiness. The only negative is that the collar is a little long for my female dane, but is perfect for my 14 month old cane corso male.

For a Bullmastiff with a 23 inch neck, works great!

I have a 3.5 year old, 110 lbs., Bullmastiff with a 23 inch neck. He’s been using the burgundy collar with the handle for 4 months now and it’s been great. Right now, the collar is on the 3rd hole from the end, so if his neck gets any thicker, there is room to grow. The handle has been used, and performs as expected. Mr. Gummy BEAR is a fierce protector of our home and is quite weary of newcomers. I am a small human and have to use both hands to restrain my dog when necessary, but the handle is easy to grasp and does not hurt my hands. The collar is exactly 2 inches wide and is a good width for large dogs – it doesn’t choke like narrower collars. Mr. Gummy BEAR likes to roll around and run through all kinds of brush in my yard but the leather has held up very well. I’ve cleaned the collar with a toothbrush to remove debris, and used leather cleaner for a deeper cleansing. I highly recommended this collar.

Solid built, but...

Not great for a sneaky dog that can slip collars easy. Love it, but doesn’t work well for my pup. He is not the best walker though. With more adjustments, it would be better. But it would change the sturdiness.
