Frozen Copper Elbow

I never repaired copper pipes before. I discovered a small crack located in a copper elbow fitting in the crawl space. Pipe was frozen. I turned off water at the well, pushed the black button on the Big Blue filter to let out air and water and opened up all the faucets to drain them. I read everything I could quickly. The shark bite 1/2 inch pex tubing came very fast, thank God! I didn't have water... Amazon saved me again. So, I ordered a cool Loreso mini copper pipe tubing cutter for about 10.00 another absolute must have and it cut this blue sharkbite pex perfectly half inch. It also cuts copper great. I ordered 2 of the 1/2 inch Eifield elbow copper connectors (8.00 approx) and ruined both by getting too pipe cutting happy by trying to recycle another pipe from an old water heater for the repair. Short story and lesson learned, this shark bite 1/2 inch pex tubing curved in a sort of square U nicely I joined the ends to the existing 2 copper pipes with another set of Eifield 1/2 inch elbows that I had to order but this time I ordered 6 at about 25.00 to have on hand. I would have ordered the shark bite elbows but they were not going to be delivered next day. I was pleasantly surprised all around. There is teethe inside the shark bite and Eifield copper elbow connectors that grip on pex or copper tubing so when you use the copper connectors to connect this blue pex push hard in then pull out to make sure the teeth gripped on to this blue pex and or copper tubing. There is no need to ever solder copper again or worry about firing up a torch in close proximity to flammables. Blue pex tubing does not freeze apparently. Buying this may save you later. I used about 8 inches of this total and hope to change out more copper to this blue 1/2 in sharkbite pex in time.

Very poor item description.

The outside and inside diameter measurements for this tubing needs to be made MUCH clearer in the product listing. I first bought the 1/2" tubing because one of the photos for it indicated that it was the OD that was 1/2". Not true. The OD was about 11/16. It was the ID that was 1/2". Had to go to the trouble of returning that order and ordering the 3/8" tubing, which is 1/2" OD and 3/8 ID. So, just some helpful advice to the seller: Do you enjoy having a lot of these tubing orders returned to you? If not, then you really should make the ID and OD measurements for each size tubing MUCH for clear. Yes, I realize now that it is stated in small print, WAY down in the lising description, but there would be almost no confusion at all if you made it an obvious part of the products advertisement header.

It works great with the Sharkbite fittings and is easy to cut. I will use pex fittings someday and I think this work well.

Worked as should

Price was great, and worked as it should, but if i had to do over again, i would not have ordered rolls, i had a lot of short pieces and being rolled up made it a little difficult to work with, but it is in no way a defect, its just the nature of it being rolled up, just had to straighten each piece before install, over all i was happy with this product,

Better than cpvc or pvc

This stuff is great. Much easier to conform to the area you are working on. I've had to replace 80% of our under-cabin plumbing due to raccoons. I use PUSHFIT connectors and T's to really speed up the process. No waiting for glue to dry. This took me five days a few years ago when we had a raccoon problem. With this I got it done in one day. Forget PVC and CPVC. This is cheaper and way easier to use. Highly recommend. Not paid or working for them, just a consumer.

cheap and easy fix

easy to install. not super strong and can be easily damaged. meets local codes. has some flexibility to avoid 90 degree joiners in some non-tight situations. works well with push in fittings to avoid $100+hr. plumbing charges. watch some youtube videos if you haven't used it before.

Excellent product

Product is exactly are described and has good quality to it. Had to use a heat gun to straighten out the tubes due to the nature of shipping them curled. Took minimal effort and the product holds the new shape once cooled.
