I have 6 kids, so we decided to buy a handful of different water guns and put them through a few tests, including testing the distance claims. We bought one pink and one blue of these squirt guns. The pink one failed after about 20 minutes of play. The plunger stopped firing water, and instead water gushed from a few spots around the tank. I was using it when it broke, so it was not abused to any high degree. Here are our findings: Distance: As an adult, I only got about 28 feet of distance. Now, we measured to the far limit of the bulk of the spray, so there were droplets that went a few feet farther. We also shot straight in our tests, not aiming up at an angle like artillery. My 9 year old son managed about 22 feet, and my 6 year old managed about 21, but was far less accurate when he was focusing on power. Overall, these guns both performed consistently and they beat most of the other guns in our test on distance, but came no where near the 50 foot claim of the seller. Integrity: It was a pleasant surprise that these don't leak once filled, since many of the guns we tested did. Filling them takes a bit of time, since you have to change the angle of it as you fill it, but once filled and capped it didn't leak. (Until it broke). Water volume per shot: These guns put out a narrow, but long stream. Not going to drench anyone with a single shot, but the longer shot gives you more flexibility. About 25-30ml for a good long shot. Safety: These had the lowest impact shot of most of our tests. Very safe. Ammo: The once place these really shined was their water capacity. If you take the time to fill it all the way, you can fight for quite a while with these things. Durability: One broke, the other is already showing some warping to the plunger. The longer plunger gets torqued to the side when being shot, especially by younger kids who may struggle to apply the necessary force. Ease of Use: My 4 year old could barely fire it. The plunger is too long and the force required for a decent shot was too high. When she did fire it, she was torquing the plunger. My 6 year old was able to fire it but it was harder for him to produce an accurate shot. He didn't like using it. These are something different, which was why we got them. We also were suckered by the claim that they could be used by younger kids. Overall, these are interesting guns and they have great capacity, but they are not reliable or durable, and are not easily used by kids under about 6. Considering the price of these, and the experience we had with ours, I cannot recommend trying these out.
