INSTRUCTION NOTE: This lock does not include instructions, so here are a couple things to note. The screws that hold the key chamber on the door ARE TOO LONG. The bar attached to the key chamber that turns the lock IS TOO LONG. You will need to cut these to length to get them to fit. NOTE: if you do not cut the screws to fit they will CUT THROUGH THE FRONT FACE above the key. BE CAREFUL WITH THE LOCK CHAMBER: the lock chamber is held in place with a C-Clip and if this comes out the chamber can fall out and lose the lock pins. ----------- REVIEW I bought this to make it so I can lock the back door of my Skoolie (School bus RV). -- I installed it so the bolt when active blocks the sliding bolt of the doors latch. -- I cut the 3rd section of the included screws off and two of the square sections of the internal lock bar off. Perhaps it may be me but I cannot seem to use the key to unlock the lock permanently; I have to do that from the inside. with the handle latch. I'm debating if this is good or not, as you can only make the door stay unlocked from the inside.

Frankenlock - Only buy if replacing this exact type of lock
My garage door lock started sticking so I picked this up since it looked to be identical to the existing lock. This set is so cheaply constructed that I had to use some of the hardware and all of the screws from my old lock so I ended up with Frankenlock. The deadbolt section seemed to be nearly the same quality as the one I was replacing but that is where it ends. The lock portion was all scratched up even though it was still shrink-wrapped in the package so it looked used and worn before it was even installed. The ring that goes around the lock is a thin, cheap metal that bends with minimal pressure so I ended up using the old ring because this one was so flimsy. The deadbolt screws were too long for the average metal garage door and would likely punch right through. The screws that hold the lock in place can be shortened but you will need a hacksaw to cut them off but they too seem to be rather flimsy so I didn't use any screws from the new set and just used the ones from my old lock which fit perfectly. The lock section that fits into the deadbolt is scored so you can snap that off with a pair of pliers. Once installed, one of the keys worked but the other one had to be jammed in and jiggled around to work. When compared side by side, they are cut the same but one key is slightly larger than the other one. Once used a few times it will likely wear down because the keys are made of cheap, flimsy metal. They look like regular house keys so I'm going to try to get copies made but garage door locks tend to use thinner keys that most hardware stores don't carry. Once installed it serves its purpose but overall, it's way overpriced for how cheaply made it is and the obvious lack of quality control. I would only recommend this if you have the exact same type of lock on your garage door now because you likely will need to cannibalize some parts.

Instructions unclear, Now my lock has eye holes
Didn't realize the mounting screws needed to be trimmed to the correct length to match the garage door thickness (they are sectioned, but need strong cutters to trim). Ended up installing the full length into my relatively thin garage, resulting in the outside face of the lock being drilled through. I realized after looking and trimmed them, but now there are holes in the outside face of the lock. The actual face is soft, like an aluminum can. The instructions it came with were for several different models, so it was not obvious what the install procedure was. Once installed (even with the holes) it works fine, just looks like I'm an idiot, thankfully my garage door is hidden.

Good quality/price product
I received the package and it wasn’t properly sealed. It looks already scratched as if it wasn’t new. Material is cheap, but it does a good job. Easy to use and to install.

It worked, especially after a bit of oil
I liked that it replaced my very old and broken garage lock without having to do any modifications - everything was the same dimension. It looks new and like a real lock from the outside. As others have mentioned, the keys and the key mechanism are VERY rough. I've oiled the barrel and am hoping that that will help it move better. Next step is to take the rough edges off the keys. Overall very pleased as our garage door is locked again.

Replacement of an old garage-door lock.
The item bought was a set of parts to replace a very old lift-up-garage-door lock. I replaced the lock satisfactorily in about 20 minutes.
