Great for fun but loud.
It only holds 2 balls otherwise it stops. Our dog loves that it throws the ball far. He sometimes takes the ball out of the front of the machine because it takes too long. The sensor prevents the machine from throwing if he is too close and may get hit. Overall, for the price, it's a quality machine. It launches the ball far and can be directed by a knob on the side.

Bow Wow-bad doggie
I wished I hadn't purchased this item. Yes, it does work but because the top is somewhat high, my dog doesn't like to drop the ball in the basket so I end up having to do it. After using it for a while, it moves off designated its spot, so if you use it in the house you have to keep adjusting it over and over again. Also, it works best with only one ball at a time. If you have multiple balls in the basket, the balls just don't fall into the whole one after the other, you must lift one ball so the other falls in the hole. It was one of more expensive brands that I saw and now I think I should have tried something else.

Works great, but…
It took my Blue Heeler about a week to learn how to use this launcher. Now, he loves this thing. The only issue on it now is the timer. It’s programmed to only operate for 10 minutes at a time before it turns off for 10 minutes. That’s great, but not so great for my pup. He gets very frustrated when it times off after 10 minutes and just doesn’t understand why it’s not working. (Frustrated look in the pic I posted) In his frustration, sometimes he pulls the ball back out, and changes the direction of the launcher. This causes it to send balls in random directions once it comes back on. Great product, I just think the automatic off setting should have a human override…

Great machine, but it has few design flaws
1. High power and distance potential (love it), but the unit is very lightweight causing the entire unit to shift position after every launch, so -1 star. This can be easily fixed by adding weight to the the unit. 2. Not being able to switch the safety timer on/off or to easy tell when the unit is in rest mode vs launch mode is very annoying and inconvenient for both my dogs and myself, so -1 star. 3. The purple base where the balls get dropped seems easily susceptible to cracking, specially if heavier balls were used, but I can’t count this point against the manufacturer until the base actually cracks/fails under normal use. This can be easily mitigated by having a layer rubber or foam to cushion the impact of the balls dropping from the dogs mouth to the purple base. 4. Personally I think the handle would be better placed in the back of the launcher not the front, but I’m not counting that against the manufacturer since it’s only my opinion. 5. It’s very pricey, but I chose to purchase the unit knowing the price beforehand so I can’t count that against the manufacturer to remove a star. 6. Training varies from dog to dog, and their interest to play with the machine so I wouldn’t consider any negative reviews from individuals who strictly base their review on their pet(s) ability and/or interest to play with the machine. 7. In reference to my previous point, my GSD learned to use the machine in less than 2 hours of training, while my pitbull shows no interest in the machine. Again, a pet’s interest is not something the manufacturer can control, so I can’t hold it against them. Overall this machine does what is meant to be done, but considering the design flaws I highlighted in points 1, 2 and 3 a price of $100 or less would be more appropriate for it. If the design flaws I highlighted were not an issue (or potential issue), I would happily pay the the current price and rate this machine 5 stars.

Had several years and still working!!
My Jack Russell LOVES this thrower and begs to play with it. It only took a couple days for my dog to learn to return the ball and put in the thrower, then she runs off the deck when she hears the clicking sound, to fetch the ball. The loud bang when the ball is thrown does not scare her. She plays with it till she's tired!! Some times the machine gets pushed by her while she's putting the ball in(she has to climb on it cuz she's short) and it doesn't register the ball in it and doesn't throw it. I then have to shut it off or actually unplug and go thru resetting it and she gets flustered and won't play with it for awhile, so I wish that the sensor was setup different. She has pushed it off the deck into the grass (4 foot drop) many times and has dropped soaked balls in it and it still works. The lighter the tennis ball the farther they go. It can be chewed and cord is not the strongest so don't leave dogs that chew alone with it.

loved it when it worked.
Worked for about a year. Seams like it should last a little longer for that price.

We had a great time
Excellent packaging. Easy setup. 2 standard size balls included. Did not come with A/C adapter. Have 6 GOOD D-Cell batteries on hand! Problem: big, dummy Lab was frightened by the launching noise! The Launcher's normal sound isn't really a bother. The issue is when it revs up to a ball. It's not really loud, it's just startling. Our daughter's 2 dogs were fine with it - no problems at all. At home, Finn, our Supreme Ball Chaser, was shy of the Launcher's standard idle, and the rev up to toss had him on the patio in his bed!! Poor Finn. Returned Launcher to Amazon without problem.

Unsatisfied
We have 4 big dogs who love to fetch, 2 of them are very intelligent. I really got this in hopes those 2 would be able to entertain themselves while I walked the others. Unfortunately, none of my dogs can figure this out. They aren’t afraid of it, but the concept of bringing the ball back and dropping it in and then standing in front of it and when it finally launches it isn’t far enough to keep them invested. I went to return the item and missed my return window by 1 day, so now I’m stuck with this device that is completely useless. Going to try and sell it to someone or just give it away. I’ve seen many dogs use this and do it well in advertising videos, however none of my dogs understood or enjoyed it at all. Would return if possible.

Peanut(whippet)learned in two days
The media could not be loaded. You definitely need to teach your dog how to play with this machine. At first my dog was really scared of this new toy. By scared, I mean he’s literally walking 1 metre away from this machine and he would avoid looking at it. I first tried to refresh the trick of putting the toy into a box with him( I taught him last week), then I hold him near the machine for a bit, then I manually put the ball inside the machine just to let him getting used to the sound of the machine when it’s launching a ball and also letting him know that this machine can launch a ball. Then, after he got excited and knows what this machine can actually do, I hold the ball on top of the machine and ask him to push the ball. In the end I just encourage him to grabbed the ball and put it inside the machine. It takes time to train but you gotta be patient with that!! In terms of the motion sensor.. I don’t quite get how it works, I tilted the angle to the highest degree to avoid it throwing into my dog and also cuz whippet has very long and tiny head.. he’s very attempted to put his head into the machine to check.. this sometimes triggers the machine and scares me a lot .. Overall I would say if your dog wants you to throw the ball 200 times a day , give this a try lol
