Tool Requires Two Hands to Operate.

This tool is ideal for cutting pieces off a large metal sheet. The tool cuts through many different sheet metal gauges almost effortlessly and is a terrific addition to my toolbox. The cutters have a lot of cutting power and are sharp enough to leave a clean cut in the wake of the tool. The operation was slightly clumsy when the sheet metal would not hold still. You need to use a vice or cut a large enough piece of sheet metal that the part will not move. This tool is best operated with a helper because you need two hands to use the tool properly.

This works really well for what it is intended for and is easy to learn how to use.

General purpose. Not always better than old school.

I did like the cutting action with felt paper, vinyl siding trim, light rolled roofing, and expanded metal stucco backing when making long straight cuts in well secured sheets. Useful for materials that can be easily trimmed of that extra 1/4" of rough-cut material using more precise methods, either hand or cordless battery powered. For metal cutting this can work on a small project scale, but does not replace hole cutters, cordless jigsaws, or good quality hand shears. The advantage of fewer metal fragments is overstated, unless there is to be no cleanup trimming following the initial more or less rough cut. Yes, a jigsaw might be slower, but with a vacuum attachment there need not be much to clean up. With better control a single cut and a little grinder finishing, the job gets done without having to stop and deal with those nasty metal slivers, which are more or less unavoidable when any careful trimming is required. As always, it comes down to the frequency of the various useful procedures that can actually work. In my admittedly limited experience, a decent cordless jigsaw using top quality blades is the closest thing to a universal metal cutting tool. Slow, but precise. Not necessarily messy. Best of all, it doesn't generate a lot of metal heating issues, which is a great advantage of shears in general, by the way. If I had fifty bucks to spend on an improvement, I'd replace my worn-out jigsaw blades. If I were doing more occasional work in softer sheet materials, I'd definitely be happy with these low-cost cordless shears as a useful tool, where saw action can quickly get bogged down the moment the saw blade gets too warm to run ahead of the melting plastic or tar-infused component materials. In this case, the tool might fit the job well enough to be worth the cost for what it can do fairly well.

Easy to get the hang of

These shears are a lot more convenient for me than using hand shears. You can cut metals up to about 18 gauge pretty easy. It cuts pretty strait as long as you keep the chuck tight. To make this tool work you have to have the material you are cutting very well secured so it doesn't move, since you have to keep both your hands on this shears as you use them.

It works as intended

Used the other day. Little awkward to use but it easily cut threw metal of an air conditioner cover. Wish the opening on the cutting blade was a little bigger but it worked fine on what I was doing

Effective Shears For Metal And Other Material

The Pac Tool shears were ordered for use in my workshop & around my house. This is an effective metal cutting tool for a DIY workshop and perhaps those who are professionals. In testing, what I found was that this tools is heavy when added to an 18V (or more) cordless drill and obviously must be used with 2 hands. The tool cut through the sheet metal easily with very little issue on straight cuts. Curved cuts were a little problematic. One thing that I would suggest in using this tool is some gloves and eye wear. I am particular to wearing protective eye wear when using cutting tools since small slivers are a possibility in these types of tools. Overall, I found this tool to be effective when cutting sheet metal and other metal up to 18 gauge. In addition, though I did not test this, it may be effective in cutting non-metalic material that is not extremely thick.
