Nice base but that's about all

I got the Ore International 15 Ceramic Accent Table Lamp with the base in Ivory color. The order was shipped and received in good time with tracking options available. Once I opened and unpacked the lamp the base looked fabulous but the lampshade had a few dozen nice dings or dents in it. No I am not exaggerating! Also when I went to plug it in, the cord didn't even reach the 5 feet necessary so I needed an extension cord to reach the outlet. All I had on hand was a heavy duty extension cord, so be prepared if your outlet is more than 4 feet or so from the lamp. Most lamps and small appliances have at least a 6 foot cord, so this was a cheap option on their part to give me a real short cord, which I'd say is about 4 feet long. My brother recommended you get this type of product at a store where you can see it. I agree, even though I get many items I shop for online. Especially with this company and the type of lampshade used. Otherwise it would have been a great small table lamp but for these faults mentioned I highly recommend you do not purchase this lamp, online at least. Another note on the lampshade. I noticed even though it's a white lampshade, a lot of the light still seems hindered compared to a frosty glass lampshade, so I would look for another type of lampshade if you are looking for good bright light. I am using a CFL (compact florescent light) with this lamp and it has no problem fitting in. I got the CFL from Bulborama.com (Tiny Twist Spiral T2 CFL Bulbs Low Mercury) which give off a very nice cool bright white light very similar to daylight. Perfect (SEE PHOTOS re:size, packing) for reading in bed! I recommend two of them.

Perfect size(SEE/RATE PHOTOS) for a night stand or headboard. With a 60 watt bulb it's just right for reading in bed but I would use two of these lamps to light up a room. The ceramic 8" body is marbled ivory w/ greyish blue & it is available in green, burgundy & black/white with corresponding shade color. Keep in mind, the ivory lamp shade lets more of the light shine through than the darker color shades. The switch is a push through peg at the base of the bulb. The only assembly required --> put the shade on the lamp. Again- please see and rate the customer images (just above the latest reviews)for photos of the size and type of packing. There were so many comments about these issues I put up 4 photos to help. I purchased 2 of these lamps a couple weeks apart. Both were from Amazon, not the other sellers, and both were packed differently but neither was damaged and both work well. My first lamp arrived in a box within a box with the shade just in regular plastic. No light bulb included. The second lamp was in a styrofoam-padded box inside another box containing the shade (in plastic) and this box was in a larger 26" x 16" box, not heavy at all. I hope this review helps in your purchasing decision.

Product Comes Damaged 2 of 3 Ordered

I ordered two of these lamps, one received damaged, the base was broken into several pieces (shipped from FL). I returned it and ordered a replacement a couple of weeks later. The replacement was also damaged, again the base broken into several pieces (shipped from KY). Boxes were not damaged. The lamp is made of three ceramic parts, the top which contains the light bulb fixture with a threaded rod which extends through the bottom of the center (ern) and has a nut securing the two sections together. The third section, the base has the power cord coming out of its side but no evidence of an adhesive to attach to base to the bottom of the ern. Is the base constructed with a top so the rod also extends through that and the nut tightened? If so then that is the weakest link and does not survive the nut being tightened to hold all three sections together or the shipping process from China. The bottom of the base has a felt pad "sticker" on the bottom when removed give you access to the nut. Being broken you can see inside the base that there are cracks in the ceramic that are sealed in the glazing process so not well built. I will say the one undamaged lamp is just what I was looking for and I am happy with it, I will just have one though and will find something else for the other nightstand.

The first lamp I received was completely shattered into pieces, although the box was totally fine, which leads me to believe it was shattered prior to shipping. The replacement I requested though, looks very nice. The shade, which is usually the part of a lamp that comes damaged, had no bends or creases and was packaged well. The base of the lamp is accurate to the photo in color and style. It is short and cute, perfect for a little hall table or a small bedside table. The ceramic base feels weightier than I expected given the size of the lamp, which is nice because it makes it not feel 'cheap.' The plug-in cord is quite short so make sure you have an outlet close to the lamp, or an extension cord handy.

Nice Little Lamp

This is a nice little lamp for the money. I needed something small (to sit on a tiny end table)and I did not want to spend a lot of money. I had looked at lamps at the local department stores and could not find anything that was not around $60 or more. Although you cannot put a bulb in that is greater than 60 watts, it does do the job. The shade is a neutral color and the base is ceramic but is also muted in color. I thought it was a little more vibrant in color from the picture but I think the light colors will fit almost any color scheme. I've been using the lamp since November (it is now February) and have had no issues. Having it sent with free shipping was also a great bargain.
