This is a professional light. Bright, illuminating everything in your path before you get to it.
Easy to mount to your handlebar. Is compatible with mounts from older nite rider lights. The power cable is thick and robust. The battery pack is small & light weight. The battery pack can run about 1.5 hours on high power. When the battery senses it’s losing too much power, it will automatically turn itself to medium power mode…..still with plenty of illumination. Last it will turn itself to to low power mode and it is unknown how long you can run on low power mode. …..but it’s a long time. If your serious about your commute or early morning training rides….this light Is more than up to the task. The difference between this light and a more expensive one is not the light…….it’s the battery life. For me 1.5 hour high power mode is perfect.

No brainer- Best MTB light period.
Expert trail/downhill - MTBR 30 years. Extensive night riding experience. Re the gentleman that stated "not 1800 lumens?!?" This light has been test by every pro blog/ site/ magazine etc., and it has always measure at or above 1800. NiteRider caters to the pro that would not stand for BS ratings. The light is every bit 1800 lumens. If you are riding on the street, a light like this will not seem as bright as a spot type light. Most cheap lights use modified spots to make their light look brighter than it is. This light is spreading it's bean evenly in a wide, but penetrating pattern. There is beautiful engineering here. Regarding the use for commuting or other street use, I would say this light seems a bit over kill for that considering it's weight and build strength. For off road, it is unmatched. This is a high quality "trail" flood beam and it is pure perfection. The beam spread and penetration works seamless technical as well as fire road bombs. Where I live, critters, large and small come out at night, so this type of light is very welcome as well. Re brightness, there are monster lights out there with more light like the Niterider 2800 and 3400, but as you can see in any pro review, serious riders don't like these mega lights. They are over kill, and worse not useful. We have come to the point were more is not more. The quality and clarity of the light pattern is what makes a great light. The 1800 has amazing penetration without blowing out the ground in front of me. The light floods the landscape with usable detail where you need it. On the trail I rarely go to 5. mostly 3 and 4. It's hard for new night riders to understand that too much light can wash out the terrain and kill your night vision. That said, this is still an amazingly crazy bright light! Can easily light up every inch of one acre. If you look at all the details big and small, you can see that this light was made with love. Everything is perfectly where it should be. In every category this light is #1: Best mount, best controls, best status lights, best battery case , best cord and connectors, and best design. If you have seen my other 100+ reviews, you know that I rarely, if ever, give this type of high praise. For off road, look no farther. Honors A+! Long live the king!

It's bright and it works.
Pros: Shipping was fast! The NiteRider system is straightforward to put together and install. The battery pack is attached by velcro straps and cinch buckles, so it is firmly attached to the bike. The cables have velcro attachments to secure them to cross tubes, down tubes, or goosenecks. The handlebar attachment is adjustable for various diameters and requires only a turn of a hand-screw to install. The headlight bracket is capable of some adjustable windage and requires tightening a hexhead screw [hex wrench included] to fix it in place. The light has various levels of brightness and has flashing modes - rapid flash, slow flash, and S-O-S flash [3 short, 3 long, 3 short]. It comes with a helmet mount and all of it stores in a nice nylon case for travel. Cons: If you do not park the bike near an electrical outlet, the battery pack has to be removed from the bike to recharge, so if you are a frequent rider like I am, it is a bit of a nuisance [I use the light in flash mode during the day and steady burn at night]. The cable connections are the biggest concern I have - the connections fit together a certain way and the plugs are manufactured in a way that the connections are not obvious. It is very easy to damage the connections. Suggestion - buy a white paint marker and after correctly connecting them, paint a white line [witness marks] across both connectors and let dry. This makes connecting them correctly easy in the future. A Deutsch or similar connector might be easier if NiteRider re-engineers it for future buyers. Final question - Would I spent the same money for this product again? Yes. I give it 4.75 stars, but a bit of product improvement would make a good product great.

Like Niterider’s rechargeable LED bike headlights!
Like Niterider’s LED lights! They’re durable, high quality though expensive rechargeable lights. My previous NR 750 is still running fine after 10+ years of heavy use—charged it almost daily.. Only the case came apart (wrapped it with duct tape haha). Started off with the little rechargeable Minewt and was hooked. I use the NR 1800 for road use only on my cyclocross bike. At low settings, excellent for on road use. Direct the headlight beam to about 30 feet or less in front of you. Has plenty of power for off-road use. I’m okay with the odd battery connections. Just takes getting used to it. At strobe or low settings, needs charging after three 1 1/2 hour rides. The battery is twice as big and heavier than my NR 750. Seems justified by the power requirements of an 1800 lumens headlight. If you desire a smaller and lighter battery pack, look for a Niterider with a lower lumen output.

Terrible battery life
Bought this for my escooter. This thing is amazing except for one massive issue, the battery life... PROS Fit and finish is great Very bright Nice beam Nice mount Nice positioning Battery straps securely CONS The BIG ONE: The Battery life is nowhere near what was advertised I have to carry a secondary light and use this one sparingly. Also the battery takes a long time to charge and loses considerable charge on it's own when not in use. At full charge, after 3 weeks it's sitting at 2/5 bars (no use). Conclusion, I wish I had not missed the return window for it and returned it, but it's too late now...
