Exceptional quality
I “grew up” with these lights as a machinist apprentice. Sturdy, reliable and versatile. Now as a retired hobbyist, I’ve installed them on my personal lathe & mill. Wouldn’t be without them.

Neack could be made a little stouter
I use this over a woodturning lathe, hanging upside down (an option available due to included hardware). Also purchased the switch dust cover directly from the manu because of sawdust. This is a fairly sturdy lamp, although the neck will not support the lamp when fully extended horizontally- it droops, which while not a deal-breaker, was what I was hoping to avoid, based on the hype in the description from the manu. It does seem to be a solid choice otherwise.

This lamp is the heavy duty professional quality lamp you will never regret purchasing. It's outstanding in overall quality build and function! Moffatt thought of everything with this industrial quality task light: • Provides bright white light with a powerful heat sink to keep you cool • Flexible neck, stays where you put it - and remains flexible and strong for decades • Double walled "cool-touch" lamp shade prevents burned skin • Mounts horizontally and vertically in all materials with supplied mounts • Can be moved to multiple mounts for precise lighting adjustments • 6 foot power cord is adequate for most applications Things you should know, but no one tells you: • There is no difference between the incandescent or CFC version. Buy whichever one is less expensive to save money!! • There is NO 100w light bulb included with the lamp. The Philips CFC is what Moffatt recommends: [ASIN:B005LFME8K Philips 417097 Energy Saver 23-Watt 100W Soft White CFL Light Bulb, 4-Pack] • It must be mounted on a horizontal surface. If you need a vertical mount, a right angle bracket is included • The flex arm is wrapped in vinyl - not the whole lamp • The lamp shade is hard plastic, not metal, but you can purchase a replacement in the unlikely event of any breakage • You can purchase a rubber toggle boot to cover the on-off switch if you are in a dusty environment • You can purchase a metal snap-on guard to protect the light bulb

Great Lamps to have in the shop at each tool
The lamps take a standard bulb and with the availability of LED bulbs that are equivalent to a 100W incandescent they put out a good amount of light. There are several ways to mount the lamps depending on the selected options. The long neck of the lamp allows you to move the light to where it is needed. I have 8 of these around my shop and find them indispensable. The oldest ones are more than 15 years old and still going strong. Quality lamps are not cheap in any case. These are competitive with other lights available. Overall, I have found these superior to others tried.

Exceptional Task Lamp
This is one of those products that is so well designed and manufactured that I wish I had known about it a couple decades ago. I first saw one in use at a woodworking school attached to each student's bench. The school's owner had installed mounts along the back of the table as well as on the side near the vise. The quick-disconnect base was perfect for moving the light where you needed it most. It has a very functional heatsink and a strong, but flexible neck that allows a wide range of movement. The lights in the school had been in use week in and week out for almost 10 years and still held the position I put them in. The shaft will actually support an additional clip-on LED lamp for contrast lighting or to get that knife line illuminated just right before you saw that dovetail in your Tiger Maple. Needless to say, my shop now has one with mounts everywhere I need extra direct illumination. You won't regret this investment.

Great lamp
Nice lamp. I've got 5 or 6 of these and consider them the best task lamp in this price range. Moffatt changed the design of the mounting post so the lamp swivels on the post - a nice feature if you mount the post vertically and want to swing the lamp out of the way, but a problem if you want to mount the post horizontally (say, to the side of a machine) because the lamp will swing down by gravity. The last couple of these lamps that I bought had the mounting post that allows them to swivel, and that was a problem for my application. I contacted Moffatt and found they solved my problem quickly and professionally.

Sturdy, high quality!
As designed these are extremely well built! Yes they are expensive but “you get what you pay for”. Good solid range of motion for use in places where they are mounted on a vertical surface . . . Over work bench, machinery, etc. They fall short however for vertical use. Motion is severely limited because power source (wire) enters the side of the light head. The heavy duty flexible arm is much to stiff to allow it to be bent that far around and still have a practical range of motion. I would buy several . . . Immediately . . . if they could be mounted vertically.

Wonderful Work Bench Light!
This is a fantastic work bench light. The quick coupler base model allows you to mount to both a horizontal surface (bench / table top) and a vertical surface with the mounting hardware supplied. I installed one of the mounts to the wall (using 2" wood screews into wood stud) and I can swivel the light almost 180 degrees on an 18 inch radius. The flexible arm is thick and stays rigid / in place once adjusted to where you want the light. The light housing can swivel a little bit on the end of the flexible arm as well. I highly recommend this Moffatt Task Lamp.
