Expensive, but superior to other lighted switches

Look in just about any American home today and chances are the switches and electrical receptacles are made by Leviton. The company has decades of experience in the industry and their products just work and keep working for ages. I started off swapping out the switches in my home to add illuminated switches as a convenience: it’s easy to find a light switch in the dark when the switch is glowing. This almost should be a requirement for all homes, but whatever. The first few switches I installed were cheap, generic switches with a distinctly Asian/Chinese brand name. They worked, but they had an amber glow, and they used a gas tube to generate the light and this had a tendency to flicker. I grabbed one of the Leviton LED switches at a big box store when I needed a 3-way lighted switch, and once I saw the pure white light on these and the nice glow around the button, I couldn’t go back to the orange ones. Yes, these are gonna set you back a bit if you upgrade all the switches in your home, but you shouldn’t ever have to replace these, and the LED should work for years if not decades.

Super easy to install, works great

I only needed to connect the white and black wires for this to start doing exactly what I wanted: replace a regular switch with one that gives a faint glow at night for easy location :)

Nice illumination

Nice subtle illumination. I installed this to replace an older orange glowing light switch. This looks much better and more modern. I have installed 2 so far, and will be installing more.

THE WORK BUT ARE NOT BRIGHT AT ALL - THE DULLEST PALEST WHITE LIGHT I'VE EVER SEEN!

These three way switches did everything else right. They work they are durable and the white light beats the socks off the amber lighted switches. The switch is very easy to install with basic tools. The screws are set to be easily accessible. The hot screw is black thus effectively marked. The other two screws are metallic. My only knock on these 3 way switches is the anemically dim borderline pathetic white light these switches emit when off. The whole purpose of having a lighted switch is so it is easily seen in darkness, The white light emitted by these three way switches is so dim it is a chore to see in pitch dark. I mean your eyes have to adjust to the darkness before these so called illuminated switches become visible. If you need a very dim illuminated light switch for a bedroom this is it. just leave one of the wire posts empty and it is a single pole switch. The white illumination is different from the amber that is common so these three way switches get points for being unique. Despite the dim illumination I give them four stars. I am using them in a dark inner hallway so they are fairy easy to spot after your eyes adjust.

These have a very dim light to locate the switch in the dark - NOT a nightlight

The description is ambiguous. There are 3 types of night illumination for switches: (very dim when off - just to locate the switch [like this one]. Nightlight when the switch is off [what I was looking for] and pilot light, LED on when light/load is on. Disappointing that I needed to buy one to find out its not what I was looking for. Otherwise these are perfectly fine switches (match standard decora ones quite well and will work in 3+ way configuration (illuminating in both switch positions if the other switch(es) turn(s) the light off). The LED is always off with the light on, and always stays on when the light is off - even in daylight (but hardly visible).
