Great for organizing home wiring
We installed as a retrofit in a 2000-era with home-run CAT5 and coax cabling, but no structured media solution. Cables were originally accessible from outside the garage, and now are organized inside the garage. Also, we were able to implement an Ethernet network using a Legrand patch panel. We used a POE-powered switch fed by another switch providing POE power elsewhere in our house so that we could avoid running power to the box. Overall, I like the product, with a few caveats. I like features such as the Wi-Fi-transparent plastic and integrated vents, and the modular components that can snap in. The installation instructions did not describe how to install the enclosure as a retrofit, but it is possible. Here's what I did: 1) Score side tabs used for mounting to studs in new construction and gently bend them until they break off. 2) Cut an opening of the appropriate size with a drywall keyhole saw. It needs to be about 1/2" larger than the inside of box size so the lip around the box can sit flush to studs. Cutting a small pilot hole first is useful to see what obstacles (power lines, low voltage lines... might be hidden behind the drywall). 3) Attach trim to box, using the supplied screws. TIGHTEN VERY CAREFULLY or you will crush the fragile plastic. 4) Secure trim directly to studs - you will need to supply your own screws for this. A #6 screw will fit through the opening, but the head likely will not, so again you need to TIGHTEN VERY CAREFULLY to avoid crushing the fragile plastic. In my case, I discovered that our stud cavity was about 1/2" shallower than it should have been, so I had to place a couple 1/2" thick furring strips under the trim to make a secure connection. Normally this should not be necessary. How could the product be improved? As I experienced and others have noted, it is pretty easy to drive screws through the plastic before you notice. It would be nice if the plastic was tougher, or some strategic metal bits were molded in to avoid this problem. Also, a set of instructions and a template for retrofit installation would be helpful. Finally, I wish the optional latch were included with the enclosure + door kit. The door will not stay closed without it. Legrand provides a couple of screws to screw the enclosure shut, but this doesn't seem like a good solution if you expect to be in and out of the box even a few times. Since the anchoring points are plastic, I expect they would strip with use. I ordered this accessory directly from Legrand because I could not find it on Amazon.

Best wall mount lan closet
Easy install. Had to get some mounting hardware to mount the NVR and cable modem. Very nice and takes equipment off your living room furniture. Out of sight out of mind

Finally, organized home networking & TV Service Panel!
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the On-Q Wireless compatible 30" Service Panel. This cabinet was designed for new construction so installing it into an existing wall required some minor modifications, cutting the installation tabs intended to secure the unit to the 16" on center studs. This unit has a small 3/8" lip around the entire perimeter. To achieve the proper installation, you need to ensure you cut he drywall back far enough on the studs so the panel fits against the studs. I chose the 30" size and as shown in the photo, accommodates the following: Arris High Speed Cable Modem & Home Wi-Fi router. 8-unit HDTV Cable Service Gang Housing Linksys - 16 Port POE Switch. Phone Port. 2 2-Plug Power Outlets. Very satisfied with the outcome.

Perfect Fit Between the Studs
I spent 65.77 why has this almost doubled? GREED! Works as it should, with lots of room to add all my devices. I added a piece of plywood in the back so I could easily mount all the devices. For the bigger devices, I added a small shelf on top.

Lots of room
I ordered a smaller one when I pre wired for low voltage but I never thought I was gonna need a lot more room until I started installing the equipment. Finally I decided to order this 30inch one and I couldn’t be more satisfied! I have plenty of room, now, and was super easy to retro fit.

clean install is easy with included trim ring
My old wiring panel was a mess, and after years of putting it off I finally decided to swap it out. I removed the old box, cut out the drywall, put in the new box, cleaned up wiring mess, and then used caulking around the trim door, and it looks perfect. Very happy with the result.

Door warped
Seems to be a box. However door came in warped. Poor packaging. Not enough to warrant the hassle of an Amazon return. But disappointing.
