Poor packaging but Nice tape measure

A trip to the ER might be needed after you try to open the thick tight packaging, which is ridiculous. Quick and easy to open packaging is needed for this product. Other than that, this tape measure works well, retracts easily and has a lock feature so I'll keep it because I just need a basic tape measure. NOTE: It shows no metric measurements. It only shows inches and subparts of inches, which is all I need.

I really like this tape, and love the sort of half lock it can do.

This tape has a feature that I've come to really appreciate, it has a sort of half lock that will hold the tape lightly but allow easy movement. You can still traditionally lock it into place but I find myself really using the half lock more than not. It's small, light, easy to handle and read and the fractional indicators make it quick as well. No more counting down ⅛ markers. It has about 4 ½ feet of stand off on the tape which is fine for a 12' tape. I bought three of them for the shop along with another box of pencils. You can never find where you've laid your tape or your pencil so I'm going with the more there are the better chance I have of stumbling across one when I'm looking for it system. Best 12' tape I've handled.

Tape is a light gray color and not white

Tape measure is good but its harder to read the fractional numbers because the tape background is Gray and not white.

best tape for finish work, furniture projects, etc

Perfect size, fits easy in pocket, very light. Unlike many cheap mini 12 foot tapes, the 5/8" blade is not floppy, this is a real tape. Brake in perfect spot, easily lets you apply full or partial brake to control tape. Good standout for small tape, hook is accurate on both inside/outside measurement. When working on furniture project, finish work this is my go to tape. Save the 30foot fatmax tape that makes pants/shorts fall down for building decks and measuring large projects.

Excellent Product --- Once You Get it Out of the Package

Only time will tell on durability, but this tape measure is lightweight, easy-to-read, and has a smooth action. The fractions are a plus. I noticed a reviewer of another Komelon tape measure gave the product 4-stars instead of 5, due to the packaging. That seemed harsh until I tried getting this one out of the hard plastic case it comes in. I have to agree with his reasoning. It is a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

Too flimsy for serious use

Tape is not solid enough to use overhead or extend beyond about 2 feet. Useless for anything more than basic ground level application.
