Works acceptably, but ony allows door to open about 70 degrees.
Because the unit allows only one inch of extension, it limits the door opening to no more than about 70 degrees. This is way better than having no means of holding the door up while retrieving an item, but 85-90 degrees of opening would be preferable. The instructions don't forewarn you that, with the door closed, the top edge of door attaching bracket must not be higher than the bottom edge of the cabinet's top frame member. If it is higher, the bracket will mar the top frame member when the door closes. If it is too low, the door will open even less than 70 degrees. The instructions direct you to install the longer pivot screw 5 1/2' down from the top frame member, but I found this also reduced door opening, and that 5 1/16" worked optimally. My trailer's cabinets have 7 1/4" vertical openings. These supports are much better than no door supports, and would be perfect if they were about an inch longer with 1/2" more extension. I searched the web extensively, but could find no door supports from any source that, when compressed, were greater than 5 inches but less than 7 inches.

Model 70545 metal strut - pack of 2
I bought these with a little uncertainty as to what size or weight door they would work on. My doors are about 9" X 14". I used one on each door and they are strong enough and could support a door a little larger than mine. What I didn't like is the small size of the screw for the tube end mounting. the screw would flex with each closing and I could see that the hole in the wood (solid maple) was beginning to enlarge from the flexing of the screw. I ended up using larger, longer screws to prevent that from happening. The other problem was that there was not the least bit of information about installation. It was kind of a trial and error thing getting the upper flange piece the right distance from the hinge edge so the door could close without binding or hitting the upper inside of the door opening. Not that it was a big deal but it may not be easy for everyone and who wants to have screw holes left in the door from trying to find the right spot. I had 6 doors to do so after the first one it wasn't that hard. By the way, these are spring loaded struts. My last RV came with struts on the cabinets and they were gas struts. they were smoother operating and seemed to have the same lifting power throughout the stroke. That is what I really would have liked but was unable to find any. But I am not unhappy with the ones I got and I thought the price was reasonable.

There are 2 for every 1 you order!
There are 2 for every one you order. I sent the others back but the description at this time says absolutely nothing about that. It is a hassel to send them back even though Amazon was great about returning and picking them up for free. But this is so easily avoided by putting good descriptions, pictures and qtys! Even if they had a picture of the 2 in the package! Come on Amazon I expect better. As far as the actual product pretty easy to install and the springs are very strong on the verge of too strong. They bent one of my hinges and pulled out another just because the springs are so strong they put extra strain on the hinges when opening and shutting. They will hold open a heavy door.

Exact replacement for strut in my Airstream
I had a galley cabinet door strut fail in my 2005 Airstream Classic. This strut is an identical replacement. Perfect fit, installed in a couple minutes and works as advertised!

I bought an older rv and some of the door struts had a stripped hole where the screw attaches at bottom. I purchased one set of these struts, and followed the directions with regard to the measurements and where to attach them. They fit perfectly, so I reattached the older struts with the same 5 1/2" measurement, and all is well. I used a longer screw, however, and I think that will make a difference over time and frequent use. Other reviewers mentioned using a longer screw as well. I'm very happy that all of the cabinent doors can stay open. Great purchase and I would recommend this product.

This was delivered in just a few days and was a perfect replacement for a broken cabinet strut in my older Pleasure Way Excel TS. I didn't even have to drill any new holes! Quality is at least as good as the original.

Only put one on each cabinet door (open from bottom). Doors stay up and are easy to operate. Very easy to install.

Exact Match for My RV Cabinets.
These struts are an exact match for the (broken) original cabinet struts installed at the factory on my 1988 Glendale Sterling Motorhome. I will buy more of these if any of my other cabinet struts fail in future.
