Better in person

The spoons and spatulas are sturdier than I expected. They are holding up to 2 teen cooks fantastically. And the colors are very pretty. I bought the opal set and it's simply gorgeous.

OK. Discolored right away w jello

These are a little harder than I thought. I was hoping for something to be gentle on my pans like wood. They looked nice until this morning. I used the spatula to stir orange jello mix for 2 minutes, then immediately scrubbed the spatula with dawn and its now permanently discolored. So it may be somewhat heat resistant but not great.

This is a great set.

I bought the grey ones, (just over a year ago) because I am painfully boring, and I have had no trouble with these at all. In fact, they are the first thing I reach for when I cook. I have seen lots of complaints about staining. I don't know if the colored ones are made from different material, but I have not seen any staining on the ladle which I do use on tomato sauce. Secondly, I have not seen any wear on any of these. Granted I am not the most prolific cook, but I do prep supper about 3 nights a week and I have seen no trouble. The spatula is usually the first to go cause it is sacrificed to a hot fry pan, but this shows no wear so far. Also, the ladle is admittedly the most secure on the stand, but the other utensils can hang on the stand without the ladle. They all have magnets to hold them together and they all have nubs on the back to hang on the stand. No regrets. :)

Excellent quality, space•saving & magnet•magic! ????????

Excellent space saving option for those with small kitchens/limited storage (we live in NYC & always find space•saving options to be particularly advantageous). Excellent quality & are ‘safe’ to use with our ceramic & stainless cookware without knicks or scratches. Not for nothin’: even at 40+ years of age, I’m still mesmerized by the magic of ???? magnets!

Great space-saving and organized solution.

This is great - it looks good on the counter, doesn't take up much space, and let me get rid of a bunch of utensils that were cluttering up a drawer. I live in a small house without much kitchen drawer space, so a solution that can live neatly and compactly on the counter or on a shelf is ideal. Note that there are several different versions of this that you can select, but the reviews for all of them seem to be mixed together. The set that I purchased is the 6-piece version, with the black plastic base. I'd recommend this one instead of the other colored 5-piece set, because the version with the base solves a lot of the problems that others mention with the 5-piece set. This set has a base that keeps all the utensils from directly contacting the counter - a more hygienic solution. This set also has a more conventional, rounded ladle - instead of the weird flat purple ladle that functions as the base of the other set. With this set I can remove and use one of the utensils and still have the others stick together and stand up - but that works better with some configurations than others. For instance if the front red spatula is in use then everything else will still attach and stand up just fine, but if the blue ladle is in use then the other utensils don't stick to the base well and tend to fall down, because the set isn't well balanced that way. So this does have the slight inconvenience that the whole set can't be put back together standing up until the ladle is clean and back in place - which is why I gave it only 4 stars. I guess it's a matter of personal preference whether that's going to be an annoying enough issue to not want to put up with it. For me the benefits of getting the clutter out of the drawer and the neat nesting of the set outweighs the inconvenience of it being semi-disassembled while waiting for the ladle to get washed and put back in place. About the colors: some other reviewers have described them as dull and depressing. My set has nice colors that pretty much match the colors in Amazon's photos - but the finish of the set is not glossy or reflective - it's a matte finish so the utensils don't look as bright as they might if they were made of a high-gloss plastic. Overall I'm very happy with this set.

Elegant in its simplicity!

I have become a big fan of Joseph Joseph products - their focus on simple, efficient, and modern design really appeals to me. This takes up so little space and is very well made. While you may not have the same "ease of access" to all the utensils at once as you would be shoving them in a drawer or a countertop utensil holder, I happily trade the minor "annoyance" of having to remove all the front utensils to get to my ladle for the stunning sleek look of this any day. The neutral dark grey with the stainless steel accent makes this an stylish modern addition to any kitchen countertop.
