They best from 8 weeks to 19 urs

I spent 19 wonderful years with Blu went 330k in a truck as a horse dentist and traveled all over the country. I had one of these from 8 was to five years we got busy life flash forward we both move to tucson and semi retire. My son bought 2. It made him so turn into that pup its perf.

My dog's favorite toy

Put plain and simple: this is my dog's absolute favorite toy. My dog is a heavy chewer, and it wasn't long after I brought him home I realized I needed to get him more durable toys. I had an old ball that looked similar to this that I originally bought for my other pup, but she wasn't into it. I gave it to my new pup, and over the course of a year, the only problem with it are tears from the mouth corners, and the netting on the back is torn off. The toy I had though was a bit small for him - as he is a 50 lb Husky / Malinois mix. So, I went in search of a similar toy and found this. I liked the size - 4 inches is a size just right for him to chew on and carry around. The wide mouth makes it easy to spread peanut butter into. [My dog loooooves peanut butter - in moderation.] The mouth is somewhat divided into two sections. It isn't exactly divided, since the middle doesn't reach all the way to the "teeth" but it is really just for added support so the dog can't open it real wide and get it stuck on their nose, and it makes it more durable. But, with that, you could put two different flavors, or types of treats in there. Previous reviews mentioned freezing the toy with spreadable treats inside - and I think that's a wonderful idea that I need to try! Just going to get some plastic baggies first so it isn't touching my human food. When the package arrived, it's like my dog knew this toy was for him. He eagerly awaited while I opened the box, and took out the toy. His eyes widened, his tail wagged and he slowly tried to reach for it with an open mouth. I held it a little higher and said "Well, let me take the tag off first!" So I ripped the tag off, and let him take it. I truly believe it was love at first sight! This is now his favorite toy, doesn't even matter if it has treats in it or not! He's chewed on it everyday since I got it a few weeks ago, and nothing is wrong with it. Well, besides the netting on the back side. That is pretty much gone, but I threw the pieces away, and he's content with this little thing. My only complaint is the "squeaky-squawky" sounds he makes with his teeth, chewing on it in the middle of the night. But, as long as my pup's happy, so am I.

Great Toy

This is the second monster mouth toy my dogs have had. My dog Blue had one when I adopted him in 2013. After he died my dog Jasper took it over but when it cracked and I don’t want to lose it so I bought Jasper a new one and he loves it.

BEST customer service EVER!

I ordered this product at the same time as two other puppy toys. This one came two days before the others. WOW! The Monster mouth smells pleasant and is well packaged- no cumbersome straps to wrestle off. It's the perfect size for my Australian Cattle Shepherd puppies (currently at 25# each) mouths. Many of the toys are too small or too large for them to get their jaws around. Unfortunately, the mouth on the toy doesn't open enough for them (OTHER dogs who have mastered the concept of "squeeze the toy to make it eject the treat" will be fine with it. However, my 4 month girls haven't figured that out yet. Instead they just gnawed the teeth to a nub and punctured a hole in the top. Since this was accomplished in short order, I called the company (whoo hoo- HUMAN BEING in 3 rings!!!). The customer service rep I spoke to was wonderful. She asked me to simply email a photo of the product with my email address to customer service. Furthermore, she asked if I'd like to try one of their products specially formulated for puppies. Part of the reason I originally chose this toy was prior experience with the Jolly brand. We had a German Shorthaired Pointer who was the poster dog for power chewer. He managed to destroy THREE indestructible Kuranda beds and to this day neither that company or I know how he did it. However, he never made a dent in any of his jolly ball toys. (A few shallow scratches & that was it!). I'm glad to see that Jolly has excellent service. This toy just wasn't a good fit for my puppies. Aside from the SLIGHTLY protruding teeth, I think it would have been fine. My suggestion is, if you're unsure how the dog will perform, insert peanut butter instead. That way they can maneuver it out with their tongue if they havent figured out the squeeze and release yet.

Great for Small-Medium Treats

This toy is durable and is great for popping in small/medium treats as a puzzle for dogs. It also smells pleasant for a rubber toy.

Doesn't work with all kinds of treats

I have two of these in the 4" size for my 22lb and 28lb shetland sheepdogs. Obviously, the mouth opening doesn't work for kibble, the kibble just easily dumps right out. Larger treats wedged in there are a little better but if the treats are easy to break apart with your hands, as soon as your dog chomps down on the toy those treats will break apart and fall right out. Super hard treats aren't as easy to remove but still they'll get them out in 5 minutes or so. I've also wedged dried sweet potato strips in there and the shelties only took a few minutes to get those out. What this toy seems best at is smearing peanut butter or yogurt on the inside. Doing this is easy for me, you just squeeze the wide sides of the toy to make the mouth open wider (makes it easy to clean it out afterwards if you need to). Anyway, dogs do best with something smeared on the inside, they work at it for a good long while, and if you want to make it even longer lasting for them, smear the goodie stuff on the inside and stick the toy in the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour. The hardened pb or yogurt really makes the dogs work longer at it. I've owned these toys for a year and they're covered in puncture marks from the shelties chomping down on them, but they haven't torn off any chunks or anything like that. (They never tear at their toys... if your dog takes great joy in tearing something apart to get at the treat inside, this toy might not hold up well. It's not as durable as a Kong toy.)

not suitable for aggressive chewers

Great size, I was really excited for my dog to ply with this. He loved getting the treats out but within 5 minutes of him doing that he had chewed off several teeth from the monster mouth. Ill keep using it, but won't let him chew it like a kong.

Very hard rubber, easily chewed.

I ordered this because we had lost a smaller Monster Mount, by Jolly Pet, when travelling. It was our dogs favourite toy so I was trying to replace it. This one was bigger and the rubber was very hard and our dog had chewed some of the teeth out within 10 minutes. Our dog and we were disappointed! A Glo in the dark rubber ball that I ordered at the same time, however, is wonderful. A very similar rubber as our first Monster Mouth was.

Awesome!

Golden retriever puppy loves this monster mouth. Also loves the monster balls. Keeps him busy. Smells like vanilla. Durable. I will buy more for sure.
