Works!

Fairly easy to install. Got a pre-made “whip” of 6’ of conduit with 2 10ga wires and a ground wire and basically cut in half to add the other two wires and length of conduit I needed. The wiring diagram is easy if you have a little experience with wiring. The thermostat turns on the pump as it should but turns off and back on many times. Suspect the temperature probe needs to be pulled outside the box. Also wish I had used 12 ga wire. Would have been easier to work with.

Well designed and reliable

I am using this unit in North Carolina to keep my in-ground pool water circulating during the winter when the outside air temperature falls to a user settable value between 32 and 45 degrees. My unit is set to turn on my filter pump when the temperature falls to 36 degrees (per manufactures recommendation). The unit automatically shuts power off to the filter pump when the air temperature rises 5 deg above the set point (42 degrees in my case). Installation was straightforward with regard to wiring it into my existing 240V timer switch box. This unit functions flawlessly, providing peace of mind that my pool components will not be damaged during freezing weather.

Great Product

We live in an area where we occasionally have freezing night-time temperatures during the winter. Heretofore, I would turn on our outdoor spa when the forecast predicted freezing temps - and the pump would have to run all night. Now, it automatically turns on and off automatically, thanks to Intermatic. This results in energy savings and peace of mind. My neighbor uses the same control for his pool, and that's where I got the idea.

easy way to protect your system

This thermostat bypasses the clock on my spa when temperatures go below freezing and turns on the pump so the system won't freeze. On my system, the heater also goes on when the pump is turned on. I installed it myself in about 1/2 hour. It works great! For about $130 I protected a pump and heater costing thousands.

So far so good!

Works great. I've had two occasions where pool professionals have commended me on my choice of a freeze protector. I sleep better knowing I won't wake up to a frozen pool or pipe in the morning.
