Simple, Secure, & Comfortable!

My wife and I bought this collar (in the small 10-16in size) for our 7lb shihtzu-chihuahua mix, she is very small but her neck is a little thicker than her little head and she manages to slip out of other harnesses and regular flat collars when she gets nervous (by backing out of them). She has anxiety sometimes and we tried other "secure" options, but we noticed that other martingale collars with the chain hanging or anything than requires clipping or putting under her arms makes her super nervous to the point where she wont walk. This is the perfect solution because it just slips over her head, no clips involved, OR we can leave it on her throughout the day like a regular collar (since there's nothing dangling off it). It fits her comfortably and she doesn't mind sleeping in it either. I am currently reordering another one because recently, our other puppy (beagle) decided it would be a fun thing to chew on when we were at work (so now we do take the collar off our shi-chi when we are out). I've seen reviews stating that it looks 'weak' but our beagle went really to town on it (shes a hardcore chewer) and almost made her way through the whole thing but it DID NOT fully break. I cannot imagine a dog "breaking through" this collar without another dog spending a whole day chewing it off of them. We can still walk our shi-chi on it but I don't want to take that risk, since its pretty frayed after the beagle-nom-nom-fest. Still, totally worth ordering a new one, this time in a pretty color!

Perfect

I use this collar for my dachshund/spaniel/mix when we go on walks. It always made me nervous that we had her leash connected to the same collar that her tags were on, so I went on a hunt for a Martingale collar. The idea was that A) if she were to slip out of her walking collar, the tags would still remain with her on her day collar and B) the chance of her slipping out of a Martingale collar is very slim. This collar does the job perfectly. My dog has a tendency to dig her paws in the grass and stubbornly try to stop you from walking further, and with her old collar I couldn't pull her very much because I was afraid it would slip off. With this collar, I can gently pull her to continue walking and she responds very well to the lead. These collars are really more specifically made for walking and training. It can be dangerous to use this collar as an all-day collar because the loop causes an increased risk of the dog getting caught on something and suffocating. Please only use this collar to walk your dog! It does a mighty fine job of teaching your dog leash manners without choking them with chains or risking the dog slipping out.

Sizing issue; satisfied with good customer service

Nice collar -- good quality and color, and all-metal hardware. The sizing and description were not accurate when we purchased the item. The size ran large, and the width measurements were not accurate. We ended up buying two versions and returning both. We wanted a 3/4" width and these came in 5/8" for the medium and 1" for the large. The company was helpful and responsive. We were given a credit for the first exchange, and were not required to return the one that came in the wrong width. We did end up buying from another company because we needed the 3/4" width, but are satisfied with the good customer service from both Amazon and Guardian Gear.

When a set to size of your dog's neck it doesn't stay, it open up

It's no good! It doesn't stay locked in for the size of your dog's neck one pull and it goes as large s it possibly can allowing your dog in training to escape

ok for the price

My dog can slip out of any regular collar. But I use a shock collar while walking & it says NO METAL. These do ok. I don't like that it has to slip over the head to get it on and off. But with a bit of work, i can tighten it once on to the point where she can't get it off. Great for the price!

Highest Quality - Great Product

I have used this nylon no-slip collars for over 20 years and they are the best. They have the effectiveness of a choke chain but with none of the disadvantages. They are soft nylon and they can be sized so that they only "choke" so far. This should be the collar of choice for EVERY pet owner!!!! Ps - I do lots of rescue work and have to transport many "unknown" dogs. This collar gives me the security that an "unknown" dog will not slip his collar when in new and "frighteneing" situations!!! A true life saver for all people doing rescue transport.

The martingale collar has been the best solution for our Houdini dog. She can’t pull out of it and doesn’t choke her as it will only tighten enough to prevent her head from slipping through. This is our second collar so I can wash one. The fit is true.

NEEDED

I have a squirrely dog, so he needs a control collar. Unfortunately, I don't want to use a chain one, I think it'd be uncomfortable and noisy. Another control collar I found was good, but it was like a slip-knot so the excess collar part always dangled; on this collar, the excess control part is circled back in a loop. While I would prefer a slightly wider band, I'm still completely happy with this purchase and, at this point, have purchased a total of three (I replace every 8 months or so, nylon collars dull with use).

Nylon semi-choke dog collar

Really good product - the expandable nylon choke element of this collar is great for training the dog and being able to tug the collar tight when needed without a harsh metal choke chain pulling on them - i recommend this product. I have a spare in now for when one os in the wash following any fox-poo rolling incidents! This is a good price for this product - i shopped around and found this seller to be very competitive. The best

I would not use any other type of collar. When properly fitted, it is great for walking, easy to remove and put on. You can adjust it so that if fits the dog's neck perfectly when it pulls, the dog pulls less and cant back out of it. Just make sure to remove if the dog is in a crate. I trust this more than regular chokers or clip-on collars, and it is quieter and smoother than the similar model with a chain loop. If you want the best for your dog, this is it.

Not sure if using right

Wish it had a quick release - a little annoying to put off and on puppy - have to re-size it each time. Not sure if using it correctly to control puppy - we are currently trying a halter type collar right now because we found this collar did not control puppy enough.
