Much much better than explore 1.

I upgraded from the explore 1. I mostly use it as a floating map, but sometimes use it to follow a course. The screen is sharp and clear. I really like that external temperature was added. On the explore 1 I had to use a tempe. Very useful during the heat of summer or the cold of winter. Battery life is amazing . I used to have to charge every other ride, but now it's every five to six rides. If I were a long distance rider, it would easily go 2 full days.

Fully featured navigation and maps at a budget price point

I fully understood that I was buying a BASIC GARMIN unit and got the features I expected which was excellent navigation and POI searches

Nice upgrade from my Garmin Edge bike computer

Nicely added features to the Garmin Edge 2. Added a Training mode which I have hooked up to a Kinetic Smart 2 Fluid Trainer. Now outdoor and indoor riding is almost seemless. Racking up the miles/kilometers!!

Good GPS, but needs better user interface.

The GPS battery life is only average. I get about 8 or 9 hours out of it, but I am using the Garmin Varia 515 with it which makes it use more battery. The user interface is confusing. It is sometimes hard to get back to the screen with the miles and speed display. You can slide up or down or side to side to get to different screens. Screen would be better if it only went from side to side and not up and down. Screen is laggy when you try to move the map. It is way slower than my cell phone to move map around. The user experience reminds me of a 2007 smart phone. It looks like windows 95. The screen is definitely not nice looking like a modern cell phone. Make sure to set the screen backlight to 30 seconds or so. If you leave it to always on battery only lasts about 4 hours.

Great overall with one odd flaw

This is my fourth bike-specific garmin and they keep improving. The navigation and touch screen on this device is great. Loading courses and using them while riding is easy and intuitive. Climb Pro is revolutionary. This device has everything for a serious cyclist except for structured training (I will use another service for structured training so that’s not an issue for me). One odd and aggravating flaw: someone in Garmin decided that 3.0 mph is the minimum speed for auto pause. Even setting to “when stopped” pauses recording when below 3.0mph. Fine for road cycling but on single track at a 14% grade, I had to stop mid climb and turn off auto pause in order to capture data. I hope they correct this in a future firmware update. That flaw aside, I would buy again and am giving this device 5 stars.

Unlike my 520, this stays lit in the dark; great for night rides.

I prefer this over the Garmin 500 series devices.

Battery Life is Useless - WANT TO RETURN BUT TOO LATE

Unfortunately I did not use this the first few weeks I had it and have gone past the 30 day return deadline to Amazon. I noticed the first couple times I used it that the battery 'meter' when down very quickly, like to 50% after only a couple hours. Went for an approx 6 hour ride and battery warning came on at 5 hours. Luckily I was at a stop and was able to grab a portable USB charger to finish my ride. I have ridden with it for a couple week and have been REALLY disappointed in battery life ( the reason I purchased was to replace a weak battery on another 5 year old garmin ) unit. This morning I was out on a really cold AM ride ( yes I know cold kills batteries ) BUT this thing was down to 2% an hour into my ride after an all night charge. I AM VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS PRODUCT AND WISH I HAD NOT PURCHASED IT. I will go back to my old OLD Garmin Edge 520 Plus and just take a charger along. I WISH THAT I COULD RETURN THIS AND GET MY MONEY BACK - HELP AMAZON - HELP GARMIN. I would be happy to test another unit to see if performs any better. AND - tried to call Garmin Support today - a Saturday - and they are not open - TERRIBLE!!!

Simple to use with all the features a recreational cyclist could want

Use for recreational bike riding. As a senior my wife and I enjoy biking and keeping track of mileage, routes, speed and a few other metrics. This unit is a replacement for a Garmin 520 which I never became fully comfortable with. The explore 2 is very intuitive and thus a pleasure to use. Nice big screen that is easy to read in all conditions.

Duración de batería

Excelente ciclo computador, es preciso y se puede programar de varias formas. En cuanto a la batería se tiene que saber administrar junto con la iluminación de la pantalla, ya que si tiene una iluminación del 100%, el dispositivo durará un aproximado de 4:30hrs a 5:00 hrs, de lo contrario si se ocupa una iluminación al 30-40%, la batería durará más de 6:00 hrs. Por otro lado también influye la conexión a bluetooth, ya que si se conecta al celular por ende durará menos, pero es cuestión de saber administrar el dispositivo.

Buen GPS con altímetro

Me gustó la facilidad para cargar los mapas a través del teléfono, actualizaciones etc. Sin embargo le falta pueda mostrar en la pantalla algo que desde mi punto de vista debería ser elemental, que es, que muestre la distancia restante hasta llegar al punto final, cuando uno se encuentra en modo de trayecto, que es para lo que en su mayoría yo lo utilizo. Cuento con un Polar V650 y a pesar que tiene años en el mercado y que ya está descontinuado ofrece mejores prestaciones que este Garmin, la verdad es que me ha quedado a deber, si quieres algo más completo, mejor decidirse por otras marcas o bien comprar las gamas más altas de garmin pero por el precio, solo unos cuantos tienen esa posibilidad, porque además, los de gama alta para el usuario común será desaprovechado si no eres un ciclista de alto rendimiento.
