Loses water
I've been appreciating this machine for 6 months now. It comes with a replaceable water filter, but I have not installed it, to make more room in the water reservoir. Not only does the machine drop a 1/4 cup of water out of the spigot at warm up AND hibernation, but it also falls out somewhere underneath into the water collection tray. While it does fit nicely under the kitchen cabinet, you still need to slide it out to replace coffee beans, so I keep it on a plastic cutting sheet for ease. Clean up is easy, the display and controls are basic. The milk streamer is great when you catch on to "plugging" it in. If you want a double shot, you have to wait out the process and hit the button again for a repeat process, but that's probably every espresso machine.

Latte Love for this machine - 8/16/19 update
I have been using this about two weeks now and love it! I make two to four cups per day. It really is very easy to use and clean. One important note....If there is coffee bean residue, it does not mean it is a return or refurbished. The machines are tested with coffee at the factory, cleaned after testing and packaged. Expect a small learning curve. Once you get the hang of it, it is really amazing. With the first cup I made, the puck was mushy, almost soupy. So I looked online and the grinder needed to be adjusted to a finer setting. Here it got a little interesting...I had read on line that it is much better to adjust the grinder while it is running but it won't run without the lid on making it impossible to adjust while it is running as where you adjust it is under the lid. There is a way around this is...You fill with beans, hold a magnet where the lid magnet would be and press a drink button...as it is grinding you can now adjust it. If you go this route, be careful to keep you fingers clear of the grinder. The finer the grind the bolder the flavor. If it is too fine the coffee will tend to have a bitter flavor. So only adjust it a little bit at a time. Cleaning the unit is very simple and doesn't take much time. It needs to be thoroughly cleaned once a week. Which is really just rinsing everything and removing the brew group to rinse well. After the coffee is brewed and has sat for a bit, you will hear the unit turn back on and hear it running. At first I thought oh no what is wrong. But it is only running a bit of water through to rinse everything before it goes to standby mode. Cleaning the Milk Carafe - When you are done making your drinks, run the quick clean. This rinses out the spout of the Carafe. When it is done I just put it in the refrigerator for the next day. Once a week I take it apart and thoroughly clean it. It looked a little intimidating in the instructions so I watched a you-tube video on how to take it apart. It actually is really easy to follow the step by step directions in the book but the video gave me a good idea on how it all comes back together. The only issue I have had so far is inserting the milk carafe (frother) into the machine. It just doesn't seem to go in very smoothly. After using it many times, it does seem a little better so I don't know if it was just learning how to insert it or it just has to be broken in. I am very happy with my purchase. I did purchase the extended four year warranty because I caught it on a day where it was only an additional $25.00. The manufactures warranty is good for one year and you can download the service manual from the Gaggia website along part list, instructions manuals etc. Update: Still love making coffee with this machine! A few things I have learned... When emptying the coffee ground container make sure the unit is turned on. Sometimes the empty indicator light was coming on and there would only be one or two pucks in the drawer. I did some reading and it was because at times I was emptying it when the machine was off. Has not happened since...the drawer is always full when the light comes on now. To brew 2 shots of espresso at once, push the button twice..x2 will show on the display(duh can't believe how long it took me to figure that one out). Finally, I added a picture of a cappuccino with a thermometer. The unit is set on the highest temperature and the cup was at room temperature, not heated. It is consistently 140-141°F when done. The milk froth was 140°F before the coffee was added. The SCA recommends heating milk to 139–149°F with a maximum temperature of 158°F and minimum of 122°F. So while I would like it a little warmer, it heats as it should :)

Easy and all automatic
Great coffee, quiet grinder. Having automatic froth makes it easy to have your style of coffee. Does not use alot of beans like my other one by Breville.

Gaggia is still the best!
Our old Gaggia super-automatic sprung a leak and bit the dust this year, after 15 years of reliable service. While we shopped around other brands for a replacement, we gravitated back to Gaggia on the basis of three things: 1) Gaggia was the first to market a large, commercial espresso machine, many years ago, 2) the machine’s reliability, based on our prior experience, is hard to beat, and 3) the coffee tastes amazingly good, just as we remembered. Also, the Gaggia is still built in Italy. The Velasca Prestige is a bit smaller than our first Gaggia, with an attractive brushed stainless steel front panel and chromed drip tray cover. The water reservoir and used “puck” container are both located conveniently at the front where they are easily removed to refill or empty. A large bean reservoir sits atop the unit. It holds about half a can of Illy beans, so doesn’t need frequent refilling. There are plenty of user-adjustable options (READ THE MANUAL or you won’t get the most out of the machine) for preparing coffee drinks, plus a front-loaded milk frother container that can sit in the fridge in between coffee-making sessions. The coffee, in whatever style you may like is uniformly delicious. My only issues with the machine are that the water reservoir is small and requires frequent refilling and ditto for the puck container. I imagine Gaggia was trying to keep the machine within reasonable dimensions to fit conveniently on a countertop, which it does nicely. Speaking from almost 20 years of experience using Gaggia super-automatics, read the manual, buy the cleaning products, and maintain the machine regularly. There is a learning curve, both for preparing drinks and for cleaning the machine, but you get to drink some great coffee during the process. Enjoy!

Mostly Love It
I like everything about this machine except the coffee temperature. I'm a "sipper", and this isn't really hot to begin with. It rather defeats the purpose to have to heat up your drink in the microwave. However, all else is spot on. It brews a great espresso and related drinks. It is easy to keep clean and is very solid and well built. I would buy it again even with the temp dislike. Solved the problem by buying JoyJolt double wall glass cups (sold on Amazon).

Recurring Issue of Beans Not Detected
This is my 3rd Gaggia super automatic espresso machine in 10 years. I fell in love the first day I used the Velasca Prestige. It would have been perfect if not for one deal-breaker issue. The machine would alert that there is no coffee beans in the hopper. This would happen about every 10 cycles. I hang on to it hoping the issue would eventually go away, but it did not.

A great machine and it fits on my counter below my microwave
Its a great coffee maker. Very simple to operate and maintain as well as functional in terms of choices: Cappuccino, Expresso, Regular coffee, Milk froth only, hot water. The milk container is a joy to maintain and use. Take it out of the fridge, plug it in and put it back in the fridge after a quick wash. It is very low profile unlike all the coffee makers out there. The only one I could find with a milk container! The water container is big and will last you 2-3 days for 2 coffees a day. It's also well built and should last a long time with proper care.

A well made machine that makes great coffee drinks with a push of a button.
My wife loves this thing. It does take a bit of reading to figure out but once you learn the process and set it all up it makes excellent expresso/cappuccino et cetera. Great design for under the kitchen cabinets as the water and the used coffee ground puck compartments are accessed from the front of the machine. I’m confident by following the manufactures maintenance routine, this will last a long time and save us money in the long run. We’ve had it about a week and I am extremely happy with the purchase.

Brilliant espresso machine
Make sure you configure the machine (via menu) whether the in-water tank filter is fitted or not - makes a big difference to coffee brewed! Other than that, it works brilliantly. "Super-automatic" is exactly that. A close relative is a coffee aficionado and was doubtful about such an automated approach to making espresso. He was suitably impressed. The only real negative is that you can't do espresso art. That is no loss to me - I just want the coffee, not a temporary art form ;) By-pass chute allows single charges of different coffee (pre-ground) e.g. decaf - is especially useful. Easy to use, clean and maintain. Don't forget to buy various cleaning products (coffee cleaning tablets as well as decalc'ing etc).

Makes great Cappuccinos and Expressos
This is our first time owning a cappuccino expresso machine, therefore we wanted it fully automatic. This machine is fully automatic and makes a really terrific cappuccino in like 1.40 mins. The milk frother works amazing! Thick and frothy just like the professionals make. It really helps to go online and check out videos available for cleaning instructions. We use distilled water, but you can use the filter the machine comes with. It uses a lot of water because the machine is constantly cleaning between drinks. We think it was worth the money we paid.
