Perfect starter set to help kids learn about watercolor and color blending!
My 7 year old has tried watercolor painting in the past but found it very difficult. These pencils help her learn about blending SO MUCH BETTER! They make it very easy for her to "paint" now. The color dries brightly and blends very smoothly as long as you don't use too much water. The set comes with 5 colored pencils, one paint brush, a pencil sharpener and a spiral bound booklet of watercolor paper. It also has an included instruction booklet to help with blending techniques. Overall, an excellent art tool to have! I will be purchasing more colors for them.

Fun activity
Overall, this was a fun activity for the kids and I. We all did some drawings and turned them into water colors. The pencils do not impart a ton of color onto the page so the water color effect is certainly less than the paints (as is expected). The paper pad is not perforated which would be ideal. These pencils last a while so they can be used in other projects in the future alone or mixed with other paints for different effects.

Great set for beginners
I’ve loved this set of watercolor pencils. These color pencils are decent and fun to play with. This was my first time trying watercolor pencils and I loved it! It was fun to explore some techniques myself. I started with drawing rainbow and blended in colors by using the brush included. I honestly didn’t like the brush since it seems cheap. However, this is still a great set for beginners as an introduction to watercolor pencil painting!

Great for Adults too
I love how watercolor pencils glide over the paper. This is a great way to create outdoors without worrying about actual water.

Good starter set, terrible brush
My son just turned 5. Last year, when his older brother was doing virtual school from home, he was completely obsessed with his brother's art class, where they spent several weeks learning different water painting techniques. Because he was just little then, he got really frustrated that he wasn't able to get the same definition his brother could as he tried to follow along. The issue was really two things: the paint wasn't highly pigmented and he was using too much water. So his attempts always just ended up blending into a disappointing, soggy brown. I was excited for him try water painting again with this kit, which I hoped would give him better results. Oh, my goodness, what a difference! He really loved that, with these pencils, he was able to draw precisely where he wanted the color to go. And I showed him how to only use a little bit of water, and different sized brushes, to control exactly where the color went and how bold or washed out it was. This was such a fun experience for him! I agree with some of the other reviewers on two points: don't even bother with the included brush, and it would be nice if there were more colors included. The brush wasn't a big deal in my house because we have lots, but if you don't, you may well be disappointed in the one that is included here. Color-wise, I think it's a decent starter variety, but for my kid, who is hyper-focused on realism in certain cases, he had a hard time with the fact that the color selection was limited. Regardless, I think this little kit gives an excellent introduction to watercolors in a very accessible and easy-to-use format. Especially for younger kids who are maybe less forgiving when things don't work out how they "should" with regular water colors. The pencils give them more control. Overall, we're pretty happy with this set, aside from the brush. I recommend it for a new spin on a kid favorite.

Good for exploration, but a bit messier than you might expect
When my son (now an adult) was a toddler, I used to put him in his high chair in his craft clothes with pots of paint to just play. It's okay for art to be messy, but ways to minimize the mess are very welcome - the cleanup of that kid took longer than the play. I was very interested in these for the next generation as ways that slightly older littles (recommended 6+) could combine pigments and water and see what they could create. For basic exploration, these are pretty good. The pencils are lightly pigmented; I wish there were a few stronger colors in the mix. But they're good quality as you would expect from Faber-Castell and the included paper pad, while small, is perfect for the purpose. As another reviewer notes, though, the brush is substandard. It's not very flexible and it sheds. I have a wide variety at hand myself, so that wasn't an issue, but you'll either need to replace it or put up with it. Do note that while this is less messy than actual watercolor paints, it is not mess-free. Protect your work surfaces, and smock those children up.

Fun kit for kids
This is a fun little way to introduce watercolors to kids. By no means is it for an experienced watercolorist. But for a child it is a fun little activity. They can draw their picture with the colored pencils and then add water for the water affect. I like everything that comes in this little box. I actually didn’t realize that it came with the paper and the other accessory‘s until I opened it. I had only thought it was the pencils. By no means does this create a perfect watercolor affect but it definitely gives the idea. It’s also a bit neater (less mess) then you’re a conventional watercolors. I think this is a really neat activity for kids.

Great quality pencils!
I ordered this set and it arrived quickly and well packaged. I was looking forward to trying these out so decided to right away. They write smoothly and blend well. The colors are vivid, bold, or sublte/pastel depending on how I use them, which is how they should be in my opinion. Overall, I am pleased with these and highly recommend them!
