Caterpillars will cost you $11.85. Just ordered ours and are looking forward to this experience.
Like the look, the magnifying glass enclosed with the attached pouch, and the info booklet. Dislike was that the caterpillars cost more than advertised. However, my kids are looking forward to this experience!

Instructions confusing
We ordered the larvae, which was not free….I had to pay shipping. Others it’s free shipping And you pay for the larvae. It is all basically similar pricing but to say they are free is misleading. Then the instructions with the bungalow are different from the instructions that come with larvae regarding what to do if one falls down. The bungalow is not easily accessible. Putting them in is hard with the little hole at the top. Finally, they do not give you anything to put their food into once they emerge from their chrysalis. But so far, 6 larvae and 6 cocoons!!!!

Extra ‘roof’
Worked beautifully and we successfully raised caterpillars to butterflies. The detachable roof serves no purpose and just gets a n the way. A removable tray on the bottom to clean their excrement would have been helpful.

Great value. Worked perfectly.
We raised five monarchs from egg to butterfly in this over the summer. It is a little on the smaller size. I wished that I had gotten a larger one but it did the job. We used eggs from our milkweed and didn’t order caterpillars from the company. If you plan on raising monarchs, make sure that you are prepared with tons of milkweed! It’s crazy how much one tiny caterpillar can eat. It comes with a tiny magnify glass which you can’t really use through the screen. I liked that it had a handle and top. I didn’t have the lid for them to attach to that they have pictured because we used our own eggs so, the caterpillars attached to the top of the enclosure. I feel like the folding top kept them protected. The handle was also nice since they need sun when they emerge. I was able to hang it safely off of our fence while they dried their wings. Glad that I bought it. This one was a great value.

Butterfly kit that helps kids to learn about life science and life cycles!
My kids (ages 4.5 and 6) LOVE butterflies so they had so much fun watching the transformation from caterpillars to chrysalides to butterflies! We have done some other butterfly kits but I really liked this one the most because it includes extras like a magnifying glass, activity guide and even a detachable shade for the habitat! This is such a great way to teach kids about life cycles and life science at home and it’s a good hands on way for kids to see the transformation with their own eyes! We absolutely loved this kit and will definitely buy it again next year!

Didn’t like the zipper
Great little enclosure, but I the zipper is on top. I had two cocoons right on the zipper that I wasn’t able to open the zipper more than an inch to drop food in. There was also no way to get to the bottom to clean it out with the cocoons on the zipper. A zipper on the side would have been much more convenient.

Great Kit
The kit was a nice project to do with my son. Keep in mind you have to order the caterpillars separately and you have to pay shipping. (They are free however).

Best educational gift ever!
Grandkids are fascinated with the stages and changes of the butterflies. Mom says after they let the butterflies go, she intends to order new caterpillars next spring.
