ZOMBIE BRAINS JELLO SHOTS!
These molds were fabulous to make jello brain shots for a friends "Walking Dead" season premier party, and i will remake these for Halloween parties as well! Zombie Brains w/ Raspberry Blood (requires 3 molds & makes 12 brains) 3oz Lime Jello mix (NOT SUGAR FREE) 8oz Boiling Water 8oz ICE COLD Absolute Citron (store bottle in ice box for at least an hour) Raspberry Dessert Sauce (store bought in squeeze bottle) 4oz or 5oz plastic cups (like jello shot cups but a little larger) Boil a pot of water. (it's best to measure the water after it's boiled) While you're waiting... Use two fingers and some vegetable oil to lightly coat the inside of dry clean brain molds. You should make sure every nook and cranny is coated but you should not have any oil pooling in the mold. Set molds aside. Place jello mix in medium bowl add 8oz of boiling water and mix for 2 mins until mix is dissolved. Add ICE COLD liquor, stir, and immediately begin to pour into brain molds. Fill 3/4 of each brain and evenly distribute any remaining liquid. Cover each mold with plastic wrap and place in a level area in the fridge. LET THESE SIT OVERNIGHT Now the fun begins... Grab a plate and butter knife. Take one mold at a time out of the fridge. Run the back of the mold under warm (not hot) water for a few seconds. Take the butter knife and also run it under the water. (the wet knife will not stick to the jello) One brain at a time: Using the knife on its side apply a bit of pressure to the bottom of the brain and pull it away from the mold towards the center. Turn the mold over and gently start to squeeze and push the bottom of the mold. You are trying to release the suction of the jello from the mold. Turn the mold back of and if the brain doesn't slide out onto the plate, give the mold a little gentle and quick shake up and down. Don't worry the other brains should fall. Once on the plate take a cup and squeeze about a teaspoon, or more if you like, in the bottom of the cup. Use the knife to slide under the jello brain and place it over the "blood" in the cup. Give it a little jiggle left and right and it will slide around in the blood. Use a lid or plastic wrap to cover and place back in the fridge. Repeat 11 more times. *NOTE* another advantage of the blood is it will keep the jello from sticking to the cup and since the brains are a little larger then a standard jello shot most people will have a little bit of blood left on the side of their lips.

Great product
I like the flexibility, it makes it easy to remove. I actually used it with chocolate instead of ice.

Another FUN Fred product!
I own several Fred products, so picking up these was an easy choice. I actually bought them with a couple other items that were all on the 4-for-3 promo. These are very humorous and easy to remove from the mold. I agree that the details melt away rather quickly, but here's what I do that seems to help. After unmolding, I place them on a plate w/ wax paper and put them back in the freezer while I make some more. I do this so there are at least 12-16 and if they have had additional time in the freezer outside of the mold, they do seem to last a bit longer. Also make sure you are using cold beverages to begin with if possible. If you are looking for more Fred products here are a couple I can recommend: Fred Cool Shooters Shot Glass Mold Fred Bone Chillers Ice Cube Tray Fred 12-Ounce Pick Your Nose Paper Cups, Pack of 24 Fred Twist and Spout Kitchen Pour Spout

Worked great for jello!
Bought this to make jello brains for a zombie themed birthday party. I was worried about whether they would really be recognizable as brains, and about them retaining their shape when popping out, but they turned out great! I followed the suggestion from a previous comment and cut off the lip of the openings so that it was basically flat across the top. I used the Jello Jigglers recipe, not the regular recipe, when making the jello. When I started, I used olive oil as a coating before pouring in the jello, and when it was done I ran warm water on closed in side and used a butter knife to loosen the sides. They popped out easily. But then I ran out of time and didn't bother with the olive oil, water, or knife! I made several batches where I didn't do anything at all and they still popped out just as easily!

Works great for chocolate or fondant!
I couldn't decide if these were what I was looking for but I am so glad I got them! I used them with Wilton chocolate melting chips and they turned out so cool! They were a big hit with everyone! I just put the white color in the teeth, gave it a little jiggle to let it settle then added the pink for the "gums" gave another jiggle and let them set in the freezer for 10 mins. The came out so easy! The thinner you make them the more easier they break but a generous layer on top will let them hold longer. When using these for chocolate, make sure to keep them in the fridge until ready to use as they will melt. I know they say ice trays which im sure they work great for but if you want to know if they will work well for melting chocolate or fondant they do!

Use your brain for more than ice
Although these are intended to be used as ice trays, I used them to make chocolate brains for Halloween. They are very sturdy and are really easy to wash. Being silicone, I am also tempted to try and make brain cakes with them. I have used them a few times to make brain ice cubes and they come out really well. They are quite large so you only really need one brain to chill a glass. Next year I may try freeze cranberry juice in them and have them floating in Halloween punch. Who knew a brain ice tray could be so versatile?
