Who's Measuring These?
The mortar is much bigger than the description. It's almost 6-1/2 inches exterior measurement. If measured using the widest width which is the diameter including the pour spout it'd be over 7 inches. It's hard to complain about something being too big…and yet, it's really not what I ordered. I'm keeping it but I really would have been happier if the item matched the description and was smaller.

Excellent and elegant
Fine mortar and pestel that's as functional as it is beautiful. I know a lot of people prefer granite or stone or other materials. But the weight, the ceramics work so well on anything I throw in there. The large bowl is nice too.

This thing is HUGE!
It is much bigger than the 5" inch diameter dimension advertised. I measure 5 7/8 inches inside diameter at the rim and 6 5/16 inches outside diameter at the rim. The pestle is correspondingly large. If you want a LARGE mortar this is probably fine. The quality looks OK. However, for home kitchen use, it seems to me to be unwieldy. (Since weight tends to increase with the cube of the dimensions, expect a very heavy kitchen tool!)

Good
Wasn't broken when I got it so that's a plus. It feels sturdy. Not sure if the centre of the bottom has always been raised or if it's just from using it so heavily but it would be slightly better if it was flat.

Pretty big!
This is very big, bigger than I was expecting. I was trying to replace my smaller mortar & pestle. It does the job I use it to crush medicine for my 16 year old dog.

Good quality!
This is a big mortar and pestle and I love it. The interior walls of the bowl and the pestle fit together really nicely for easy grinding up of things. Super sturdy, yay

Great for the price.
Great for making guacamole and crushing herbs for recipes. Some reviews mention the interior not being glazed. It should not be glazed, or there would be no friction for grinding spices.

Tamaño grande (500ml) excelente para la cocina. Material bueno, aunque he tenido morteros de porcelana de mejor material, éste mortero es de material bueno. El diseño es diferente al de la foto, el de la foto tiene base, el que me llegó no la tiene (el vendedor es Amazon Estados Unidos) El brazo no embona a la curva de la base del mortero por lo que pulverizar semillas duras con pequeños golpes en una cavidad entre la pared y la base no es posible con pequeños golpes rectos. No es un mal mortero, pero he tenido otros que me han gustado más

It's HUGE
I was expecting a small mortar and pestle like we had in high school or like they use in India for Chai tea! Usually, I know what's in my Amazon boxes. This threw me off because of the weight and size. Having one this size is 1000x better than usingthe dinky little one. It packs a lot more crushing power.

This is my new favorite kitchen tool, I use it almost everyday it's really easy to clean very sturdy no chips or anything when it showed up and very large for the price, I'm very happy!

Sturdy and smooth. I use it for crushing pepper. I like it really coarse and electric pepper mills reduce the peppercorns to dust.
