It's ok
This product is not as good as Creative Air Dre Clay, but when you can't get your hands on Creative this will be sufficient.

Great value for the money, designed to be used shortly after receiving it
I am a big fan of Crayola's air dry clay, and my kids and I have been using it for decades. (Please see the enclosed pictures.) This is a tremendous amount of clay for the money. I am used to buying in the small, air-tight aluminum foil pouches. This is 29 lbs of clay in four big tubes. The clay is easy to use and dries overnight. Then, you can paint it, stain it, sand it, or glue things onto it. I love the texture of the clay and how easily it takes paints and stains to create unique coloring. One nit, and this is my fault, but better you know. I was used to airtight containers holding the clay. I did not open the box right away, and that was a mistake. This clay does not come in an airtight container or containers. It is tightly wrapped in plastic, and, when I opened it up after three weeks, it was getting towards dry. I was able to add some water and massage the water into the clay to regain some flexibility, but the bottom line is that you should order this right before doing a large project, and then seal any unused clay in some airtight containers. I will definitely order this clay again, but next time I will know to open it and repackage it immediately upon receipt.

This clay is great for Projects
For a senior year high school project last year, I made the colosseum almost entirely out of this clay. My time limit was around 2 months, and I put almost 80 hours into this project. It ended up sitting on a 16-inch long base and weighed in at 6.8 pounds when completely dry. I used approximately 2 of the 5 pound containers. I don't think this clay is perfect, but I think of all of the options out there, this has to be the best option when making large projects and not having the option of kiln firing. Cracking is to be expected. When adding water to the clay or simply using it straight out of the package the moisture takes up a lot of space and naturally, it is going to shrink when dry. I ended up using cracks to determine where the weak points were. When filling in cracks ALWAYS overfill the crack, the clay that you put in is going to shrink, and it's easier to shave down bumps than continuing to fill in cracks that don't seem to go away. I found that carving this clay was easier than molding it. I included a picture of the details on the interior, they were for the most part entirely made by carving clay out of each row. This clay is really hard to make small shapes and strings with, so if your project is small or has tons of tiny details I would suggest picking up modeling clay instead, although making small details IS still possible, just more time-consuming. Joining pieces of clay together can be a challenge, I found that adding lots of water and smoothing down the sides of the piece you want to join to the project. Trying to join pieces in the "traditional" way (making a few lines in either piece, adding water, and pressing together) does not work with this clay, it's very stubborn. I had a big issue when starting this project as to where I was going to put it. I decided on a cardboard base, but I couldn't get the clay to stick very well. I found that gluing paper down to the cardboard and adding a thin layer of water to the top got the clay to stick. after the first layer, I had to deal with shrinking and added a second piece of cardboard to the bottom, since it bent the first one. Another trick I found was mixing acrylic paint directly into the clay can change the color and you can mix other materials into the clay- I used both of these on the sandy floor of the colosseum, beige paint and actual sand were mixed in and the clay worked just as it normally would. I seriously enjoyed working with this material, you get a ton for the price, and it works really well. This project was the first time I had ever made something large and to scale with clay, and while it does come with a learning curve, I really enjoy recreating places with it. Currently, I am working on a model of Mont St Michele, and after I will be working on making the Statue of Liberty

Great for a class project
We made oil lamps with this clay for a class project. It was easy to work with and dried out and they have stayed strong. It is messy when you work with it so I took off a star. I recommend putting a placemat down when using it to decrease the mess and make clean up easier.

We like this stuff
I keep air dry clay around for my 5 and 7 year olds, who like to make things with it. This was our first time using this brand of the terra cotta color (instead of white) and I got it because of the quick shipping, because we are making holiday gifts. One huge plus and two FYIs: the clay came as a dreamy consistency, easy to work with, easy to shape, easy to heal the inevitable little cracks that happen when working with it. However, the pieces they made have now taken over a week to dry, which is just something to know, and the coloring has dyed the plastic tools we used to shape the clay. Not a big deal for us, and it did wash out of hands right away, but one kid randomly used a plastic shaker egg to try to replicate the shape in the clay and the plastic was immediately dyed a blotchy orange, apparently forever after. We didn't get any on clothes, I don't know if it would dye fabric. Very happy with this product.

Hours of Fun for Kids and Adults
It is a bit messy. You will need to wear a covering or your clothes will be ruined. I made the kids use an art table with a drop cloth. They love creating their piece, waiting a few days for it to dry and then paint it. So, it really turns into a great week long project. Endless creativity. Washes off hands easily. Make sure to store it correctly, so it doesn't dry out. Great gift for any kid or creative adult.

Great activity for kids
I purchased two tubs of this for a birthday party activity. It entertained the kids for a long time. I went to purchase more, and it was unfortunately no longer shipped by amazon in this size and at the original pirchase price.

Great Product!
LOVE crayola air dry! The one draw back to ordering this much at once is that there are no re-seal-able containers.
