Decent equipment for price
All in all , this product isn’t bad and I’d say it is worth the cost without a doubt. I am a master electrician (not bragging, only expressing where my experience comes from!) that has had to install many of different styles of generator and rv hookups. This product is on par with other direct distributors, and the unfortunate fact is all equipment is mass produced and “cheaply” made these days. But, my complaints with this product are minimal because of how much care and effort was put into the cord, this is where conntek excelled and where the majority of the value comes from. The only real issues are with the outdoor box and receptacle mount and are as followed: - there isn’t much room within the box for you’re #6/4 feed wires , so you’ll have to make sure you are exact with the length you cut them down to. - the metal used for the mounting box isn’t the best and slightly pliable , so make sure to pre-bend you’re wires to get the cover seated correctly. - you are going to run into an issue of landing the wires while the receptacle is mounted in the cover because of where the termination lugs sit. There isn’t enough room to get your Allen key into the lug, so it may be beneficial to detach the receptacle, install the cover, then land your wires , and then remount receptacle. - the weather proof door that protects the receptacle was bent slightly from manufacturer and will eventually cause a leak issue(as seen in picture) so make sure to grab some cheap gaskets before install just Incase. Again these issues aren’t deal breakers and can be rectified with a small amount of know how. If you are in need of a hookup definitely consider going ahead and buying this one. It gets the job done and comes with a well built cord and cord ends. LASTLY!!!! DO NOT INSTALL THIS UNIT WITHOUT ALSO BUYING A MAIN BREAKER GENERATOR INTERLOCK KIT!!! EVERY PANEL IS DIFFERENT AND REQUIRES A SPECIFIC TYPE AND IS DESIGNED FOR YOUR SAFETY AND TO ENSURE YOU DON’T BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN. IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE AND ANY ELECTRICAL SUPPLY HOUSE CAN POINT YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!! Sorry for the all caps but it is imperative that you buy and install this extra item, please do not skip on this. It is extremely dangerous without one. I have included an example of one in the pictures for reference when you are searching for one to fit your panel.

What Were They Thinking?
I bought this item because it looked like it was good quality, and because it came as a matched set. I didn't have worry about purchasing an inlet box that didn't match the power cord. In the reviews I saw a mention of space being tight for the wires, but that seemed like a minor issue. After installing the inlet box, I KNEW that space wasn't the issue. The issue was the interior DESIGN and the printed instructions. The instruction illustrations didn't look like the product I had, but I followed them thinking that everything would become clear as I did what the instructions said. First they said, "Cut an opening the hull using your 2 1/2 " diameter hole saw." Didn't know why they wanted such a large hole for 4 wires, but I followed the instructions. Then, "See the inlet flush in the hole you just drilled. Using the inlet as a guide, mark the mounting hole locations. Take out inlet and drill mounting holes using 1/8" drill bit." And then I discovered why I should not have done any of that. Here's the short version: For this installation you need four #6 wires. The inlet box has a 3/4" knockout that is below and to the left of the socket that holds the wires. This means that these stiff wires must be bent up, to the right, and then forward, to install into the socket. If this sounds difficult, you're right. I succeeded and then tried to push the cover onto the base to close the box. I thought I was almost done. Wrong. I was just getting started. I couldn't get the box shut because the wires were so stiff that I couldn't get the box shut. I had to drill a 3/4" hole directly behind the socket assembly and install a 3/4" bushing that would allow the wires to slide back into the hole as the cover was being installed. I was lucky to have a step drill to drill the hole for the wires. Lastly, there was a fitting on the inside of the box to attach the supplied ground wire. Seemed simple. This fitting was difficult to get the wire into, and, as I went to close the cover, the stranded wire started coming out and would not stay put. I wound up using a terminal lug to hold the wire and then fastened that to the fitting that was supposed to secure the ground wire. Then I was able to close the box as the wires easily slid backwards as I pushed the front cover forward. All of the hassle could have been avoided with accurate instructions, a knockout directly behind the socket, and a simple to use ground lug. What were they thinking? On a positive note, I liked that once the box was installed , you push the plug in, give it a little twist, and then screw a nut to hold it in place. I liked that. One last helpful hint. The cable plugs can be difficult to push in and twist. A little silicone spray can work wonders to facilitate pushing and twisting.

You Need an Electrician
This is a heavy duty Conntek unit is well built and, no doubt, will serve us well during periods of power outages. But, you will need a certified electrician to do the installment into your home. Unless you are an electrician, this isn't DIY project.

Nice Product - 4.5 stars
Very nice overall. Should have a bit more space for 6ga wires in my opinion, but doable, and perhaps easier for someone competent/practiced.

My electrician commented: very well built, excellent quality for the money
Had it installed by an electrician. He had no problem whatsoever punching the holes, connecting the 6-gauge wiring, closing the cover. It's tough because it's big wiring, nothing special. If you have trouble, perhaps you should take it as a sign you should not be doing it... just sayin'
