Lasted me seven years.
I found this in my old purchases as I'm replacing my first one. According to Amazon I bought it seven years ago. I keep it in the car in case I get caught out and take it camping (usually as a loaner) and the coating has just now started to give up. I will be buying two more of these and look forward to getting another seven years out of it!

My favorite poncho
I have several rain ponchos that I use for camping, and this one is my favorite, for one reason. It has the fabric (polyester) lining that is hard to find in a poncho. The lining feels better on the skin when it's cold and raining. Without the lining, the inside of poncho feels cold and clammy. Also, prefer the polyurethane waterproof material over standard pvc. The polyurethane feels and acts more like a rubber coating. My only complaint is that this poncho does not have grommets in the 4 corners like my other camping ponchos do. Now granted I have never once used the grommets in a poncho, but hey, it might come in hand in an emergency. I purchased a grommet kit and plan to install my own. As far as fit, it's loose and roomy, like almost all rain ponchos. And the bottom hits at about my knees. I'm 5'5", 160lbs. I haven't used it with a backpack, but I anticipate that it will have no problem covering the top of my 55-liter backpack. I subtracted one star due to the lack of grommets. Otherwise, the poncho is stellar.

Day Pack Poncho
I purchased this poncho for day hikes in the North East. I was looking for something small enough to fit into a small backpack, but tough enough for repeated use. I am pretty happy with this poncho, and I would recommend it. Fit: I wear this poncho over medium weight hiking gear with a small day pack, and I am 6 feet tall. It covered my entire backpack and came down to the tops of my knees. The arms are just flaps created by snaps on the sides of the poncho. They cover the shoulder and half of the upper arm. The hood is a good size that covers the entire head without significant loss of vision. The two neck snaps close the throat and the drawstrings create a decent seal around the face. Function: The poncho was tested in light to moderate rain. It was heavy briefly, but moderate for quite some time. The first thing I noticed was that the arms were not covered enough, but that was easily solved by pulling them in the poncho. The arm snaps I left in place as they controlled the billowing of the poncho in the wind. I may consider getting some light rope or para cord to use as a belt, but overall it kept most of the wind out. Once the hood was up, the neck snapped, and the drawstrings pulled snug, my neck stayed warm and dry. That was nice as the temperature dropped quite a bit when the rain started. My knees took the brunt of the rain. Because the hem of the poncho sat just above them all the rain from the front soaked into my pants. Granted, this is a shorter poncho and I expected that. The backs of my legs and my upper legs were dry, and wet knees was the trade off for light weight and smaller packing size. There was plenty of warmth under the poncho, and it was easy to control my temperature by unsnapping the neck or putting my arms outside of the poncho when I got a little too hot. Once the rain stopped, it was comfortable to hike with the hood down while I let the poncho dry. Pack Size: It was a bit larger than I thought when I got it. It comes with it's own pouch for storage, but I tossed that. That gave me a bit of a smaller package to work with. It was approximately 13x8x1. I didn't weigh it, but it seemed to be around 1lb. The material is thick and strong, so I am willing to accept the larger pack size. Overall, a good poncho for the price. I am sure you could get better just as I am sure you would pay a premium for it. This poncho will be a good addition to a day pack, for outdoor festival use, as part of a car kit, and probably good enough for a hike lasting a few days. Any more than that, and I would want to move up to a larger poncho that can be converted into a shelter or a dry bed liner.

Good quality, but why are all ponchos small?
This poncho is well made with a good quality fabric. It feels nice and the fabric is relatively quiet. The neck snaps work well as do the hood draw-strings. Personally, I like the maroon color: not neon, but it wont make you invisible either. Two negatives: 1) there is only one snap on each side, so your sides are pretty exposed to rain 2) the bottom is cut in a curve, further reducing the coverage. Laid out flat it forms sort of an ovalized-square. I'm not sure why they did that. I would have preferred to have the full square of material. Regarding size, the poncho laid out flat is 50" x 80" (if you stretch it out.) Almost all poncho's seem to be this size. There are a few that are up to 6" longer in one or both dimensions (but, since that is a flat dimension, when worn that only amounts to 2-3 additional inches.) The "Lewis N Clark Uncharted Backpacker's Nylon Poncho", which I havent tried, is the largest I've seen advertised. It is a claimed 55" x 96" (note that only their "backpackers" poncho is oversized.) I dont understand why ponchos arent available in larger sizes. I am 5' 10" barefoot (not particularly tall for an American man.) Wearing this poncho, the arms stop a good 6" short of a shirt-sleeve cuff. In the front the poncho reaches to my knees, and in the back it stops just below my butt. If most ponchos were significantly larger than 50x80, I would be giving this 1-star and returning it. Since in my searching I havent found a well made poncho with a nice fabric in a larger size, I am giving this poncho 4-stars for being a very good example of a standard poncho. [Yes, I should probably give that Lewis N Clark a try, but I am sick of shopping.]

Great purchase
Please do not get misled by this review. This is an excellent *poncho* that covers your upper body and head, but if the water is coming from the sides, you will still get wet. However, it is a poncho and it serves its purpose perfectly: avoids your camera/bag, upper body and head to get wet. I bought it and arrived the night before of my trip to Iceland. It was most useful for all the waterfalls there. Fabric-like in the inside, waterproof plastic on the outside. Carrying bag makes it compact enough for a small backpack. Worth the money.

Not great when it's very windy
This feels much nicer than I expected. I thought it might be plastic-bag-ey, but it doesn't feel cheap. The studs seem well-attached, the hood fits well, and I went out in torrential rain, and stayed mostly dry ( ie dry above my knees). Not great when it's very windy, but very useful.

should have known better. However would recommend it to larger people
Lovely material, colour, style, but one size fits all is not for me, I would be lost forever in this enormous poncho....ok if you're 6 foot and 12stone maybe ! What a pity they don't do smaller sizes...I'm 5' 1" and 8 stone...should have known better. However would recommend it to larger people, very good value,.
