Comfortable and well built! Pricey but worth every penny!!!

If you're on the fence, get off and buy this! Virtually all the others are plastic injection molded and cheaply thin, not to mention aren't stable on the toilet bowl rim! And they look ugly as well, sticking out like a sore thumb. I can't say enough about the quality fit and finish of this raised toilet seat! A no brainer to install and comes with all steel hardware! Did I say "steel hardware"? No cheap plastic nuts and screws that don't hold things in place, stripe the threads, or simply break looking at them! This one's solid, doesn't flex, and has some weight/heft to it. No lite weight paper thin plastic here. It mounts rock-solid and doesn't move when you have to maneuver to clean up your behind. The added height gets you up to were things aren't swimming and you can stand up without feeling like your climbing out of a hole. It's easily one of, if not the, most comfortable seats I've ever had the pleasure of parking my derriere on! No cutting the circulation off or feeling your bones, even when repositioning yourself or getting up. It truly is comfortable as these things go. No ridges or angles to bother you while doing time on your throne. It may cost 2-3 times what others do, but your derriere will thank you (no pun intended ;-). Some things just aren't worth saving a buck or two over. The only thing I wish is I had bought this years ago! It's $300-500 less than a new commode and basically serves the same purpose! SO happy I bought this one. Light years ahead of others, hands down. No more squirming from discomfort or dunking things unexpectedly in the pool. Especially in warmer weather! Got it? Get it! You won't regret it.

Just what I wanted!

I have purchased several different toilet risers for my parents and they either didn't like them or tolerated them. I found them unpleasant to clean. Since my dad passed away last fall my mother is living with me. I had wanted to renovate my 2 bathrooms in anticipation if my own aging but it became more important for my mom. Part of the reno was new toilets and I came across this toilet seat and it is a game changer. First, it looks better than the removable ones. Second, it is less bulky. With others you couldn't put the lid down and even with the lid up, it looks pretty much like a regular toilet. It is cleaned like a regular toilet. Third, it wasn't any more difficult to install than a regulat toilet seat and I am not particularly handy. I followed the manufacturers suggestion and watched the YouTube video. Finally, I like the open front. but that is personal preference. If I was ordering now I would get the 2 inch rise rather than the 3 inch but since it is not returnable, I can make it work. My mom prefers that it is a little high rather than a little low. The only thing I would like to see is a soft close lid. If that was there I would purchase one for the other bathroom but I think I will see if a new model comes out since this is a rather pricey toilet lid.

Good product, poor instructions.

I received the product this afternoon. Unpacking revealed that it was well made, heavy gauge plastic. Much better than the average toilet seat. As for installation, that's another story (mostly due to poor instructions). Nowhere in the instructions is the toilet lid addressed, however, studying the product bits, it become apparent that the lid must be included in the initial installation. Getting the seat, lid and two hinged bits all together is a bit like wrestling with an octopus. It is helpful to use some masking tape to hold the hing bits in place while installing on the toilet bowl. Inserting the two mounting bolts through the holes in toilet is easy. Getting a plastic washer, flat metal washer and lock washer on the bolt is not too difficult, but then getting the nut started seems to require a third hand. However, it's do-able. Once the seat is aligned and tightened, it is time to determine if it is an improvement over a standard seat. 1. It is sturdy. 2. It is comfortable. 3. It's not too difficult to install if you plan ahead. So, is it worth $98 bucks? Yes, it is. It is much cheaper than installing a "comfort height" toilet. It, unlike the Amazon photos, does not look "geeky". Would I buy it again? Yes?

Works!

My mother needed a higher toilet set and she caths, so she needed space to help herself pee. I purchased this after four other attempts that she hated or was not stable on the toilet. This one is is stable! She can use her catheter. She loves it and has more freedom of her own care, which is important to her.

Rock solid

Serves the purpose nicely. Not easy to install, but also not terribly difficult when you follow the instructions. The mounting is very solid, no wiggle at all; the centering tabs on seat bottom are not at all necessary, and only serve to detract from the appearance. If the tabs were gone, it would get 5 stars.

REAL toilet seat--preserves dignity of elderly, and makes cleaning easy

I had tried several toilet seat inserts for my parents (moulded plastic bowls that wedged into the top of the toilet bowl, replacing the seat). These did the job of increasing the seat height, but all narrowed the opening down to the toilet bowl and trapped toilet paper and worse to the sides, making cleaning particularly difficult after bowel movements (sorry, but it's a real issue for caregivers!). They also required removal of the standard toilet seat, so looked cheap and "medical." In contrast, this is a true, glossy plastic toilet seat with cover—looks and functions exactly like a standard one, permitting everything to fall directly into the existing toilet bowl. Appearance (other than the elevation blocks which can be seen from the side) is identical to a standard toilet, and you clean your standard toilet bowl as usual, rather than both a tricky insert and the bowl, which is a real advantage. The only heads up is regarding your toilet shape. In order for the elevation blocks to sit steadily on the toilet bowl, it's essential to choose the right shape (in my case, the round one). I'm not certain if the elongated one looks as good and works as well as the round one I'm reviewing.
